For those of you who don't know about it, this in In Eastern Mass
there are 3 rides a 15 mile , 25 mile and 35 Mile ride.
I did the 25 Mile ride.
starts out at the AAC in Milford , goes through Vietnam, up the power lines to Peppercorn Hill, then some more Power lines to Upton State Forest , to Lake Whitehall State park, to Hopkinton Town Forest , back into Pepercorn Hill, back to Power lines , though the the Milford Quarry area , back to Vietnam , to AAC.
Lot of ground was covered and it was al oto of fun. Here is the map from My GPS
here is all 3 of the groups getting ready to leave , Dave Freed ( the ride organizer) giving us his Pep talk.
Dave , our Fearless leader.
actually
Dave Lead the 35 Mile ride
Mitch Stienberg the 25 mile ride
and Anne Shepard lead the 15 mile ride.
so this was the last I would see Dave on a Bike today
Here we are Riding through the Charles River .
there was Lots of water to contend with ! This ride was On saturday . Friday Night we had over an Inch of rain! So ther were lots of Puddles . and the streams were a bit high!
Well Here we have gone through Vietnam , and have crossed Interstate 495 , as a matter of fact , that is I-495 directly behind us!
Continueing up that Nasty assed Climb, with I-495 in the Background.
Now we must Go down some , tough technical decent .
SloMoJo Hucked the rock on the right, and He almost ate Big time ! some how he Pulled it out with out crashing.
Why did the Mt Biker cross the road ?
To climb the rock! It was a tough Little rock to go up and over.
and ther ewas a lot of New england fall Color all around us.
This was a Nice flat straight were we could really fly on it .
but you can see thea couple of Puddles from the previous nights rain.
In Peppercorn Hill , this is a off camber rock , covered with wet leaves !
quite a challenge
All the way through Upton State forest. I didn't really get any Pictures in Upton because I was Playing the Sweep rider.
So We got through Upton SF and now on the Lake Whitehall.
Here we are at the Point on Whitehall. with the pretty fall color in the background.
about 1/4 of the way around Whitehall, and Into Hopkingotn Town forest.
Now we had to ride teh road for a short Bit between Hopkinton Town forest. and back to Peppercorn Hill , but on our way back as we rode past North Pond , they were builing a New waterfornt House . and the House across the way , is not to happy about it!
About halfway up the Climb to peppercorn Hill, we had our 1 and Only Real Mechanical Problem ( at least ones that Stopped us ) . A flat Tire. for having 9 riders over 6 hours aand that wasthe only real problem is pretty good.
Up at the top of Peppercorn Hill, SloMoJO , Hucks the Peak .
The Rain from Last night had an effect . and we had very wet feet for most of the ride.
Here Is Mitch Riding through a stream , usually it is a nothing. this time it was another story.
On our way back. here we are crossing the exit ramp off of I-495
Back in Vietnam crossing the charles ricer , much drier method this time.
Almost Home ! Just before we got back to the AAC.
according to My GPS it was 27.6 Miles. 6 1/2 Hours. then it was time for Beers and Burgers at the AAC ! Yummy ! was really a good Group. we stuck together nicely. lots of fun.
