Well I just got my first set and am realy having trouble getting used to them. I am fine unbtill it comes to when I start to fall over or something and I just cant unclip, I cant rotat my heel enough and sometimes just try to pull up. I have been trying to get used to them, Waht I have been doing is just riding uo to a complte stop and once I start falling I try to unclip.... Unfortunatelly that doesnt always work. Any tips to getting used to them? I will be using them for DH, and the are mallet c's, I want to be able to use them for next tenney, but it is not needed.

Thanks,
Sean

I do not use flats for DH but I do for XC, CX and road, which I ride much more than DH. The biggest suggestion I can make is to use them on another bike or for another type of riding first. DH requires that you have a command of the equipment and you can get your feet out fast if you get in trouble. I wouldn't run them unless I had full confidence in my abilities. Other than that, just use them more. Perhaps stand yourself up in a doorway and just practice going in and out over and over.

Really, there's no easy solution. Just gotta practice. After 5 or so years with clipless, I have mastered them but will occassionally fall over. If you start tipping, for some reason, it's really hard to snap your foot out quick. That doesn't go away completely.

practice practice practice. you need to ride around the yard every spare second you have practice uncliping in acward scenarios and that will help. also loosen them up and that will help out alot so good luck or you could just go to flats and fix that prob all together.

Time's have a little more float than say, Shimano, but just keep practicing. It'll feel weird for a while, but then it'll just click on day...

Somewhere dark, cold & wet....
if you just cant turn your heel far enough then maybe playing around with the angle of the cleats will help. pointing them a bit more to the inside will mean you have to move you foot a bit less to unclip.

Other than that, just practise!

you may want to make sure that your shoes dont need to be trimmed in order to get the right cleat engagement/disengagement. I have mallet c's and sidi shoes and i had to cut away quiet a bit of the sole.
