After killing my second carbon D2, Im after another one.

Just been checking out the SE mx helmet as well as the D2, does anyone here have a SE they could weigh? or do a weight comparrison to a carbon D2?

I had an MX Helmet before my now broken D2(fox flight i think) and although i did get used to it, it was rather cumbersome when compared with the D2, im hoping the SE is half way between the two.

thanks!

The SE is pretty light for a mx helmet. Mine is 2.9 lbs, I think. Not at all cumbersome. Guys I know that use fox moto helmets say my SE feels a lot lighter.

Our digital scale measures the Md/Lg D2 Composite at 2 pounds, 8 ounces and the SE Medium at 3 pounds, 2 ounces. For what it's worth, the O'Neal SL814 weighs 3 pounds, 6 ounces. When the SL814 came out in '03 it was the lightest helmet on the market. I know 4 ounces doesn't sound like a lot but for your neck it makes a big difference over the course of a day of riding.

The Fly lite II is 2.7 pounds and has been on the market for a while now.
When I was looking over a year ago, one other helmet was a 2.9 and another one was 3.1, I think one was an HJC and the one was that Oneal.
Comparing my D2 and Fly lite, the Fly only feels a little heavier.

Are your numbers from manufacturers literature or from your own measuring? If those are legit that Fly helmet is crazy light, I'll have to check one out.
I got the 2.7 figure from 3 different websites, because I thought it was crazy as well. But I was told by somebody else, it was the lightest around.
It is also quite affordable. It retails for around $200 or so, and I found mine
for $99 at motosportoutlet.
I raced in mine all year. I think the Foes guys ran them this year, but I am not for sure. I thought I remember seeing Houseman in one at Snowshoe.

Ya know what's really a pain in the ass to wear on a Dh run is one of those halo's.I just got a TLD "Des Nations" se helmet for my MX and don't notice it.After seeing what happened to Kyle and Waddell etc.etc.I just notice you have to step it up and push the edge in faux-pro an pro classes.I've got too much important stuff in my life to worry about how much neck muscle I'll have to grow to accomodate 4oz extra.Buy one NOW and wear it until the race season and you'll be ready. If Mcgrath can do it for 20 laps of Supercross we can for 4 minutes.Especially JP,he's already bald ,skinny and ugly. What else can you endure, man?

looking at JP is like staring into the sun....it's dangerousm, hurts so bad, but you do it anyway even though you might go blind......

...hey, and Scary gets a 2nd benefit to wearing a Moto helmet...it will cover up more of his mullet than a D2. :thumb:
