I think you give him too much credit. His secret is that he's impervious to shame. He's such a sociopath that he can't feel shame, therefore truth is irrelevant. If whatever he's saying results in adorations from the crowd, that's all he cares about. What he *is* good at, is telling people what they want to hear. He's not convincing or selling them anything. The rubes that love him do so because he says the things they *want* to be true, regardless of any basis in reality. It's a pretty closed system.

I doubt it is a strategy but that is why a lot of people like him. It sucks when you worship someone and they fuck up, but if they refuse to admit they suck you can play along and your delusional fantasy remains intact.
