That Manafort brownstone is on my block. Gonna take my kid trick or treating there. Bets on what he'll get? Rubles? Polonium candy?

Enjoy your descent into the 3rd world Puerto Rico. Maybe next time you'll choose to be richer.
So close and yet, so far

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating a $300 million contract that Puerto Rico's government power company awarded to a U.S.-based energy startup, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The contract between Whitefish Energy Holdings and Puerto Rico's bankrupt power utility was widely criticized after media reports showed it was awarded without a competitive public bidding process.

On Sunday, Puerto Rico's government announced it would cancel the $300 million contract.

"Watching the developments unfold on the large television screens installed in his private residence, Trump was "seething," according to a Republican close to the White House.
The indictments on Monday of campaign aides Paul Manafort and Rick Gates weren't a surprise to Trump, according to people who have spoken with the President. Trump has long assumed that members of his presidential campaign would be swept up in Mueller's probe.
The revelation that another campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI was far less expected, the sources said. And the assumption that Papadopoulos is cooperating with the FBI's Russia probe stirred even more unease among Trump's allies."

Notice how ANY mention of Papadopoulos is followed by "he was a very low level volunteer that nobody talked to or listened to..." I have heard the "low level volunteer" used so many times since yesterday.

From "excellent consultant" to "low-level volunteer" in a short amount of time

“George Papadopoulos, he’s an energy and oil consultant, excellent guy,” boasted Donald Trump on March 21, 2016. But as frequently happens to the great, excellent, very, very top guys Trump surrounds himself with, Papadopoulos is now turning out to be a total loser who nobody has ever heard of. One Trump mouthpiece calls him a “coffee boy.” “Few people knew the young, low level volunteer named George, who has already proven to be a liar,” Trump now tweets. If Papadopoulos was a woman, he would be ugly, flat-chested, and unmarriageable.

Follow the money train

This is a serious rabbit hole right here. So the Commerce Secretary just happen to sit on the board of a bank that Manafort was using to wash his cash.

Trump’s Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, was vice-chair and leading investor in the Bank of Cyprus, the island’s largest bank, which was “one of the key offshore havens for illicit Russian finance,” according to an extensive investigative report by financial journalist James Henry of DCReport.org. “Ross has been Vice Chairman of this bank and a major investor in it since 2014. His fellow bank co-chair evidently was appointed by none other than Vladimir Putin.”

It is like he is reading out of his own playbook

Papadopoulos kept a number of campaign officials in the loop on his efforts to set up a meeting between Trump and Putin, though they secretly determined that the meeting “should be someone low level in the campaign so as not to send any signal,” itself a sign the campaign was trying to hide its efforts to make nice with the Russians.
