It doesn’t change the fact that it’s not a unique position that he’s taking, and there’s a significant number of likeminded US Citizens who vote along the same lines. If the beauty of the system is that it allows a vote per citizen then how can that significant group be ignored? The trouble is that neither side is going to reasonable persuade nor arm wrestle the other side to see things their way. At the end of the day we’ve all got to live in the same country.
The truth is that we need an outsider boogeyman that everyone can fear, so we can unify in fighting that enemy. Without such a scapegoat, infighting is inevitable.

Reagan gets three colors of shit kicked out of him w/o mercy. Preceding Presidents likely had to learn to assimilate on a new meaning to the word 'Compromise'; JFK in '63 USS Liberty Incident in '68 Vietnam in '65 leading up to Cambodia during the '70's Pollard, the early '80's This as Energy Crisis' were realized and mounting rhetoric was the only thing constant.

Everything I've read, researched and studied has convinced me Reagan was a major contributing factor in most of the things the right and left currently dislike about this country, yet I still see folks claiming Reagan was a great president. Can you help me understand why?

It's everywhere now. I frequent pro trump subreddits (those which don't immediately ban dissenting voices, that is) and what I've seen is incredible. Folks are willing to live and die by viewpoints with absolutely no regard to fact, reason or history. It's absolutely fascinating/terrifying, and though it's become a cliche by now, helps me understand how some of History's worst and most brutal dictators have risen.
Easier to write hagiography rather than examining whether these lauded principles were even followed, let alone effective for us all.
Interesting timing. I was browsing a "trump supporter" forum where normal people could ask 'pedes what their reasoning was for voting for Trump. One question was in regards to the second ammendment, and what restrictions were reasonable for people to own weapons. At least a few people commented that there should be no restrictions, shy of some chemical weapons and nuclear arms, and that if citizens wanted to buy an aircraft carrier or battleship, that they should be allowed to. That those were God-given rights, that the government cannot take away from them, and that other nations are doing wrong by saying "you can't have a tactical nuclear sub, even if you can afford it". This line of thought is pretty scary for me- that this guy thinks he is entitled to arms of any sort with no restrictions, and that no restrictions on automatics, or grenade launchers, or anything else is reasonable. This guy crawled out of his mother's basement, into his ahegao stickered escort, and now thinks his God gave him the unalienable right to a rocket launcher. OK DOOD.

He rebuilt our military & brought back our strength which help with negotiating with the Soviet Union, helped end the cold war, tax reform, 'Reganomics" dropped unemployment from approx 20%-10%, cut nuclear weapons. Those are a few off the top of my mind.
Ha, most economists will flat out reject Reaganomics as an absolute failure. But what do they know.
