When using a frame with a 68mm bb shell, Truvativ says that you need to use the little rubber o-ring on the non-drive bb cup. In my experience, however, these things always come loose and start dangling uselessly around the spindle, or else they just dry up and deteriorate. Is the o-ring really necessary, or is it a useless piece of rubber?

Also, when mounting a chainguide (sandwich style) on said frame, should I still use the drive-side spacer on the bb? Or will the chainguide mounting flange take the place of the spacer?

I run the e-13, with the flange adapter. I still have to run the spacer because the adapter is'nt thick enough to make up the difference between the 68 and 73mm shells. the oring, although I keep it on, Is pretty much useless.

i do not understand why TruVative does this. Just like their proprietary BB cups that you need to buy a special tool to remove. Make 2 different style cups and be done with it. I have been using truvative for the past few years but am now movig to Azonic or Profile to get away from this crap.
