Hey,
I've currently got an XC race hardtail, a Transition Bottle Rocket with a lightish build, and a Haro Escape built as a SS. I hate the Haro. It's heavy, the fork (Marz. DJ 1) is a turd, the frame is a little to small, the geo feels whacked, etc. I want to replace it. I can't figure out what makes the most sense though. I'm in the NE, though I might be moving to Cali in a little less than a year. I race XC, and ride what I guess you could call AM, with some freerideish stuff thrown in, and the odd day of lift served DH. That's what the BR is for. I want somthing that's more beefy/ agressive than my XC bike, but still pretty light and easy to pedal around. Probably a SS. In a lot of ways, somthing along the lines of a DJish bike appeals to me, because it'd be flickable and nimble and all that, but I'm tallish, at about 6', and pedaling around most DJ bikes for a longish trail ride would suck. On the other hand, a DJ bike dosn't really seem that practical, since there aren't any DJs where I live, and I live in the 'burbs, away from any decent urban riding. I could pick up a Norco Rampage pretty cheap, so that's one option. I could also try to find a long DJ bike with a relatively long seat tube and put a Pike or somthing similar on it. Or I could go for somthing else. What makes sense?
