I just got my wheels XT hubs with MAVIC 3.1 rims. I got Panaracer fire XC pro tires. I’m trying to put them on the rims but I see no way to get them to hold air. Or of I was to flat out on the trail how I would ever get air in them agen. What gives this is crap. Any one have experience with tubeless tires? How the hell do you get the tire to hold air?????

Are your tires 'UST tubeless'?

No experience with this stuff myself (yet; am waiting to put on some Stan's...), but I know you can't use any tire with the tubeless rims.

A lot of UST users are using Stan's latex to help seal the tires and patch leaks and punctures as they occur.

I know you have to inflate tubeless tires very slowly so that they can be properly seated in the rims. However, beyond that, I don't know. Go to your LBS and see what they have to say.

take soapy water or windex and soap up the bead, just like they do with car tires, then inflate. It helps to use compressed air... If you flat on the trail stick a tube in until you get back home... Very simple to use, been running them for a while and love it...

Ive been running Stans on my single speed for a while now, best thing since sliced bread, my opinion. You can run lower air pressure, plus if you puncture a tire or cut a sidewall the stuff will seal back off, you may have to stop and add some air a time or two before it seals off completely but it will save you from walking.

I run UST's on my geared bike, but I do add a little of the stan's latex to them to just for the added protection...

No, you got it backwards - you have to inflate them very FAST. I.e. by using a tank of compressed air (gas station or compressor or portable tank). Or a high-volume floor pump.

Stans sealant would probably help too.

And UST tires (I hope you have those, normal tires won't work).

now iono what the problem was for you guys but i'm a scrawny ass 150lb kid and i used a floor pump and it worked just fine. i think all you guys are just pansies :D the key to it is you have to pump it till you hear the bead pop. and you don't have to use the soapy water to help seal the bead. the reason why car mechnics do that when putting car tires is to make sure that the bead is set properly, if it's not they'll see bubbles being produced around the rim and tire......

ya I agree some UST tires will go on without using compressed air, but I've also had some that wouldn't, thats where the soapy water and compressed air comes into play, its just a tool to make it easier, sure you can take an air pump and pump it until your blue in the face but why??? The soapy solution helps form a seal and lets the air push the tire up onto the bead (JUST LIKE A MECHANIC USES IT FOR A CAR TIRE, sure bubbles will appear if it leaks but thats not the main reason they do it) If you are using Stan's on a regular rim with the rim strips you will have to use soap and comp air, if not you will never get one to bead.
