Since I've yet to go tubeless, any tube recommnedations for XC/24-hour racing? Would a ultralite tube be to much "risk" to run in a 24-hour event? How about the slimelite tubes? Thoughts?

What are you expecting from the course? I'd be hesitant to go with an ultralight if the course has some rocky/rootyness to it.

Take both. Run the ultralights first, see how they do. If they seem to be crapping out, switch over to the regular tubes.

Ahhh, the beauty of 24 Hour racing...

slime tubes seem pretty useless out here -- with no cactus or goatheads, and lots of sharp rocks, they don't protect against the only type of flats we get (pinchflats). I've never had a single "puncture" flat in the 10 or so years I've been riding. Everything has been a pinch flat or blowout or something.

Just go with a regular old tube that fits your tire, don't go for a light weight version nor a heavy duty one. Run a pressure that fits the conditions and carry a C02 inflator.

That sounds like a plan. Especailly considering the terrain at Dalton. Thanks Westy.

I know that you probably want to watch the wieght, but I think that I would go with a heavier duty slime tube. To be in a race and boned by a flat would suck!

Good luck with your choice!
