In a van.... down by the river
Booked my flight to Oaxaca for the TranSierra Norte enduro this morning. Baggage fees were gonna be $35 (first checked bag fee) + $145 (2nd checked bag fee + oversize fee for bike) x 2 = $360 just for the bags. Or... I could spend an extra $340 R/T for a first class ticket and I get two included bags up to 70lbs each. Boom, done.

:wave:

There's always one...
I dunno, man... $340 buy a LOT of tacos. :D

But I’d still have to pay to get my bike there. Basically I’m saving $20 by flying first class… and $20 is a lot of tacos!

^^^^this is what I usually do for MX/S.A..
One of the dudes I went to Pisgah with last fall figured this out on that trip, apparently it’s an option for some domestic flights as well. All depends on what the upcharge for first class is I suppose.

Yes, absolutely. Sometimes it’s $1k to $2k more (Thursday/Fridays, Sundays), and sometimes it’s just to fill the seats.
With my AA Citi card, I get two bags free, but they have to be under 50 pounds, which is tough with a full bike bag, (with a stout, capable bike).
But you also get airport lounges, all the First Class perks.
Usually allows you to change itineraries for minimum/zero cost.

@eaterofdog unloading cars?

First of all, supercars fucking suck. I'd rather drive a Yaris.

Secondly, all of my shit is beneath the surface. Nobody knows a goddam thing I'm doing and they never will.

Here. Shitty sleep. Haley found the professional photos from the Grand Junction race and wants one printed. It's her railing a turn so hard that the front- inside wheel is lifting. Wifey is the one ordering it, so she's accepting it more. Still not too keen on the idea that Haley's pushing her kart to that level, but the reality is at the "set in" stage. We are also now talking about that truck.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Evening folks. Spent the past 2 days at training with some colleagues (actually our guidance counselors and admin team, but whatever). Super excited to be heading up some Circles with or staff and students this year. Tomorrow we pack the camper for a couple of days of camping and then Saturday we bring Syd up to college (she still isn't packed). This summer has FLOWN by.
