In the office for the second time this week. Bullshit I tell you.

Tis the season for people spending an inordinate amount of time, energy, and noise pollution shuffling leaves from one place to another, all in the name of trying to achieve the unachievable.

i bought one of those yard / leaf vacuums this year. superior to a leaf blower as it sucks them up and collects them instead of just moving them. it is electric and I use it for the pool deck.

My wrist and finger hurt, but at least they aren't broken. We went to the track after school yesterday for Haley to get some laps in. I am racing an 1hr endurance race in the rentals on Saturday, so I figured I should practice some. On my first session, at the end of the front straight, there is a 90* turn which is a lift and tap the brake to start rotation, then full on the throttle to finish the turn. I turned in about 10' too early and completely blew the turn, which sent me off the track at about 45mph+, and into the barriers. I hit them so hard that I actually went under the barrier and it flipped up to hit my hand. I thought I broke my finger yesterday, but it's bending now. My wrist hurts like hell, but that's likely from the steering wheel snap twisting it. I bent the hell out of the spindle though. Sorry guys...

Haley then proceeded to heckle me about it. And went off backwards into a barrier far worse than me, thankfully she didn't bend an axle. But oh boy... she got so much shit. And then proceeded to send herself off track a couple more times. New tires were acquired when we left, so she gets to spend the next 3 days trying to change tires.

Rode in today. Took the rail trail most of the way in hopes of staying away from psycho drivers. Had to enter the road a few times, and some lady in a kia nearly took me out (on purpose, she was offended that I was in front of her and I heard her floor it). Interestingly, we both work in the same building so I now have her license plate and a rough idea of what she looks like (and vise-versa of course). Not sure what I can do with this information, if anything.

Yesterday was the poop sample, and today were the blood and urine samples.
I thought this was more a Saturday night activity, not a Wed/Thurs thing. go figure

Knee is still sore from slipping a pedal and straining it 11 days ago. But seriously considering making a run to Moab for the weekend as with the weather turning and our likely move back east on the agenda, it might be a while if ever before I can ride there again. Made more complicated by my wife having work travel and I'm not sure on trail conditions up high after the recent snow, but it's been mid-70's every day this week...

If you want to try something completely different, come up to Laramie and we can do some crazy xc shuttling or a long loop.

Observations after living on the southern Oregon coast for a year,

Zero smoke from fires, always clear skies due to offshore winds
Zero need for air conditioning
Minimal use of heat: today was the first day in a year I had to turn on the heat as it was 58 degrees in the house
Order from Amazon or tools/items at least 2 weeks before you need them since you can't get anything locally
You can make better food at home than what is available in town
Zero traffic
Everything closes at 5 or 6 and sometimes is closed midweek, and everyone runs on island time
Skilled labor is either nonexistent or at a premium, with nothing in between
Produce, breads, meats go bad as soon as you get them home from the store due to the humidity
You need many freezers and a greenhouse to live here
Technology adoption is easily ten+ years behind, and terrible internet
You have the beaches, dunes and waters to yourself mon-fri, weekends are for the tourists
Bike lanes/paths and sidewalks are nonexistent or an afterthought at best
Plenty of very fresh seafood and real Mexican cuisine
