That is one burly frame!
again, DT has stressed that the Highline will not be looking like that Interbike demo at ALL!

I am also dubious of the 12.5lb weight - DT's statement was that the Highline will be LIKE a 12lb maul, not that it will weigh 12 lbs or more

my guess would be the Highline frames will be somewhere around 10lbs - but that's based on rumors I've heard and speculation...

and what I've heard of the 6-Pack (LOVE THAT NAME!) - I'm going to keep to myself, but it sounds pretty cool...

Remember how many DHR's you saw when you came down last time?
Well there are MORE 5-spots than DHR's around here.

Um if the highline is gonna weigh around 10 then pray tell what does the market DHR frame weigh? NOT the magazine race thin tube one either a real world one you can buy.

Yessss!

I got my build up at 41.5 pounds, no silly weightweenie parts (Ava shock included)
For me, this bike is light enough. It's allways good to know that your frame is strong.

Sorry about the stupid posts....I can't wait for the Highline, but I don't know if it will replace or join my RFX :-)

Well, so far the RFX ain't for sale! :) Looks like they just shaved a bit of weight off it with the 5spot-ish seat brace and bored-out bb/shock mount area. It'll be interesting to see the rear end to see if it's a more dramatic departure from the RFX. Otherwise IMO it's just a tweak to a bike that was far ahead of it's time before, and a bit outdated today. Not a lot of 6" pedalling freeriders out there anymore, more lightweight 6" trailbikes than anything. Freeriders are pushing 7"-8+" now. But hey, a 6" pedalling freerider is EXACTLY what I want (and have ;))!

im bummed to see the 5-spot ish seat tube brace, it needs the closed tube like the RFX had. If its a strong bike i might consider getting one. A friend of mine had a 6in RFX with an 02 Monster T and dual 24s, that bike still goes down in my book as the most fun to throw around and beat the living crap out of it bike ever built. If this bike is just as strong as the RFX then i will build one up the same way :thumb: It looks good so far

I saw somehting before it was posted on Ridemonkey!!!! Kind of funny that I'm ususally so busy that I see things for the first time on Ridemokey, but in this case, sounds like I'm one of the few that saw the new Highline before you guys. DT stopped by for lunch and I had a look at the CAD drawings. Looks cool for sure, nothing like the proto from last year like he mentioned.

Later,

I remember when DT used bushings instead of bearings because he believed they were more efficient and built a better frame. (This was 96, does he still do that?)

I hope he still applies that kind of care and thought into his new frames. I also hope this bike weighs less than 12 lbs....seems to me that at that weight there is better (lower priced) competition, and I don't know too many people who spend oodles of cash on freeride bikes (NOT DH bikes). I'm sure it'll be a success and everybody on ridemonkey will love it, even if it is a cube of cheese with wheels.

Anyways...heres to DT, who just makes damn good bikes

Yes, Turner still uses bushings, and they work great.

I also have a RFX and I don't have any plans on changing it for a six-pack yet. Although I love the fact that other soon can enjoy a "new" RFX again! It just rocks.

The 5 spot is a popular bike??? Man, and i thought i was gonna be special..... :D

Yea, Turner CS is top notch.
talked to a bike shop that imports turners into the UK, and sez they are selling the 5 spot as fast as they can get them there.

that'd be sweet if 5 spot sales gave a stable revenue baseline for Turner to explore other more 'niche' bikes.

I've not read any feedback on that, but from a design standpoint Turner really couldn't do much to better that frame. Seriously.
...I agree, I have been eyeing it since the first pics emerged. From a few chats with DT on the subject, I offered the comparison & he said it will actually be VERY close to the same. That was 6 months ago...so no telling with the design still in the CAD phase.

edit: actually one improvement he can make is to make it available for purchase in the US :p unlike the DV
