We had two bikes STOLEN out of our booth at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show this weekend in San Jose on the night of March 4th. Any help in finding them would be greatly appreciated. If you see either of these bikes on a trail, at a shop, on someone's car, locked up on the street, or anywhere else PLEASE let us know as soon as you can by either calling us at 480.775.3840 or emailing us at info@mintcycles.com. You can also call the San Jose Police Department and ask for Detective Carter.

We're happy MTBR did manage to take some pics of our bikes before they were jacked though! Here they are:

Singlespeed 29er with a Pace Carbon Fork and a few on-one parts

S3 29er with a Reba and an XT parts kit - as far as we know, the only 29er in existence made from True Temper's superlight S3 steel alloy

Both bikes are for 6-foot-plus folks. They are both tig-welded and may have had the decals peeled off, as the decals were not clearcoated.

Again, ANY help in finding these would be appreciated. We are a small builder and losses like this hit us really hard. Please feel free to repost this anywhere.

Thanks,
christina / mint cycles

Well, the good thing is, the crooks will not get far, because according to MTBR, if the thief is over 165 pounds the bike should colapse under him:rolleyes: . Hopefully he will die in the accident.:dead:

No, seriously, good luck getting the bikes back. They looked sweet.

Hahaha! I read that thread. Somewhat hilariously, the guy in the photo is none other than the builder himself and he is a tad over 200 lbs. He rode in a 24-hour race and crashed it and lo and behold the bike was still intact, with some minorly dinged parts.

Now, as far as the thief goes, I don't care how much he weighs but if some random mechanical accident (like, I don't know, getting stabbed in the knees) befalls him... well, then... :nopity:

In the last day there have been two posted spottings of our S3 29er on the San Francisco craigslist. The bastard riding it around is a mid-30s-ish, heavyset dirty looking blonde guy with long hair, and people have seen him around downtown San Jose. If you work or ride or live down there and see him, please keep a look out and let the cops know if you see him.

Thanks!
