Army mofo's...the Marines came up with the digitized pattern and no polish boots first.

Why do Army doggies always talk sh*t to us Jarheads and then go change their uniforms to look remotely like us...posers.

First the thing with the black beret's and now the uniform change...

Are you guys going to copy our new badass bayonet's too?

...waiting for an Army doggie to cry me a river.

Michael Jackson has some kick-ass uniforms. He looks like Cap'n Crunch sometimes.

I have no comment about the army being "posers" though.

But NOTHING says GEEK like the new USAF bdu w/jarhead style cover... :p
My God! That camo is awesome if your hiding out in a Florida retirement home :oink: Seriously, it looks like a hawaiian print, not camo.

As for the army BDU; Stargate SG1 called, they want them back

Then again, everyone looks silly wearing their tree suit.

But it is good that they have the new uniforms, now they will know the joy of wash and wear utilities. And the boots thing, not having to polish boots daily is good too. Saves time and those poor cans of shoe polish don't have to get set on fire anymore.

What the Marines want that the Army has...

their budget.

Haha, I got on of them. Except mine has survival stuff inside the handle and a ball compas on the end. :blah:

As for the USAF ... they seem to be prepared for being shot down over the pond. ["They'll never see me in the reef, muahahahah"]

Yea, I've seen those. The shininess of the ball compass prevents the use of that for the Marine bayonets. But yea, when everyone heard a new bayonet was coming, we all got really excited. Initial rumors made it out to look like one of those crazy a** klingon knives, this was before any official pictures were released.

Instead, what I and lot of other Marines did was get the little compass that fits on the watch band, then cover it up using one of those velcro watch band thingys. kinda like this, only in olive drab.

I thought the new bayonet was manufactured by K-Bar??

I like the digital cammies, not just because they work, but because you can tell the Marines apart from the rest of the troops much easier- though there are other, more "subtle" differences as well.

No, K-Bar makes the other knives we use. But those aren't actually issued out, you have to goto the px and buy one. Those are very well made, I've got 6 different versions of the standard K-Bar.

I like the new cammies as well. When they were available to the Marine units on Okinawa, they were first sold at the Camp Foster px. That sucked cause you had everyone waiting hours to buy one set of utilities, just utilities. The new boots weren't shipped to us yet, so we had to wear our old ones. But that was before the new regulation about everyone having a full set by a certain date.

That uniform looks like something from a 3rd rate SciFi flick... :p:p:p

Does this uniform remind you of General Munro in the 5th Element? I can't find a pic but if you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about...

I know the K Bar is the fighting knife of choice, but my understanding was that they were going to begin producing a hilt that allowed it to be mounted as a bayonet. I must be wrong or maybe I had just seen the Ontario blade that looks so similar. Either way, I'll be busy this summer earning a set of those funky cammies and a K Bar of my own.

Damn... now that is awful. How the fuhk do you hide in that?

the USAF doesn't hide. if you're not a pilot or a mech you pretty much work in an office. they don't go to the field...just cheaper for them to wear utilities than pay dry cleaning bills on dress uniforms. and the AF special forces dudes.....x-trained w/ those dudes one time....pretty amusing.

what's up w/ no blood groove in the new bayonet?

Supposedly, it's to prevent "suction" from forming around the blade when you stab someone. It makes blade removal easier. But, there is no scientific evidence to support that theory.

*But on the swords, they were called fullers and they served the purpose of strengthening the sword.

On the kbar, it also serves the purpose of improving blade strength. Like for example, if I wanted to pry something open with the knife.

Here is an article on that subject.
http://www.agrussell.com/knife_information/knife_encyclopedia/articles/blood_groove.html

As to why it is not on the the new Marine Corps bayonet? I can only guess that the group responsible for setting the criteria for the knife did not have that feature in mind.
