All this over not showing an ID in a library?
I hope those cops get the book thrown at them, but we know that won't happen....
problem is 'cops' don't understand tasers and the affects.
why didn't the students jump the security?
That story could use a little more detail.
did you see the video? Disgusting!
What if the guy who'd ALREADY been tazered couldn't get up? A guy laying on the ground "refusing" to get up is not excuse to taser him again.
when we had school fights, we never kicked a guy on the ground... cowards.
Ahh. No, I do not see a video. It's probably firewalled. I was wondering why there was a big empty white section of the webpage above the story.
Uh, did he not know what "stand-up" means?
Well he was brown and muslim so he probably deserved it.
I do find it comical that they were shocking him because he wouldn't get off the floor.
Who doesn't wish for the days of no video and nightsticks?
After being tazered, he may not have been able to.
It is crappy video, but at the end you can clearly see the face of an officer who is saying to a student "get back or you will get tazed too."
Attached is a shot of the officer that said this, with tazer in hand (I drew an arrow for you). He is doing this even after they have removed the subject of the altercation.
Clearly this is the new face of freedom in America.
did you know there's a chance your testicles can rupture when tazered?
Well that's good because it will keep those people from breeding.
50,000 volts kinda short circuits motor functions....
Because then they would be terrorists who hate America.
"Who will police the police?"
"I dunno, coast guard?"
I have to say that this incident should have been avoided. Unless this student was violent, there was no need for a taser. Being obstinate and slow to leave is not reason to assault someone.
But on the other hand, the police ask you to leave, you might want to get it together and get going...
hippies will do anything for attention. this would never happen at bob jones college.
According to the article on the school's newspaper, that is what he was doing.
The article also states that the individual was in fact a student.
Oh, yeah... I remember when I learned about the escalation of violence in the military, they said it was perfectly ok to taser someone who simply asked for your name.........
what a bunch of morons (the security).
Can't wait to see how this pans out
Well, that kid can drop out of school...he's going to be rich after this. Any bets on what UCLA settles for? I'm going to guess $3 Million.
This article: http://dailybruin.com/news/articles.asp?id=38960 states that he got tasered at least 4 times, he was tasered after he had been handcuffed and yes, the officers did threaten students who asked for their names and badge numbers with tasering.
Maybe those students can get rich too
Yep, there's the problem....
But...but....but...he didn't have an accent!!
From Renegade Rick's posted article...
i wonder if he was attending on a student visa.
Was it the real Police or campus security types? I've done much worse to campus security and never got tazered. I also ran much faster than campus security.
Seems to me like both parties are equal dumbasses.
Any student in their right mind knows you gotta carry your student ID pretty much everywhere while you are attending said university. You wanna use their library?---carry your ID--pretty simple. Nobody, save for the most beligerant of offenders, needs to be tazered over a suspected trespassing offence. All they had to do was call the guys name in and find out if he's a student or not.......
I attended a Cal State school that had real police officers on campus. I do not know however, if that is the norm throughout the Cal State and University of CA schools.
That would be true if the guy had assaulted someone over the fact that they asked him to leave...since he apparently didn't, it hardly seems fair to blame both parties here.
You mean this name?
Yeah, that would work. <--- hey that's Mostafa right there isn't it? (he is the one on the ground)
Names that the LA police do not like:
Cops are getting to anxious to use their new toys!!! Cops must be tazed before they can carry one, they should have know what the effects were. Being that he would not be able to get up after already getting tazed. I think it was the police, I really don't think they have rent a cops at UCLA. At UCSB they are full blown black and white's, AR-15's, 45's, mase & betting sticks.
not to be da grammer nazi, but is u a college studint? the spelin n grammer mad it herd 2 unnersant yer post.
lap it up, princess: u can reed this:
wow, i really hope those cops get what they deserve. did anyone else hear the student yell that he has a medical condition? not sure if it's true or not, but those cops were still way out of line.
Actually I can. Pretty easily. There were some problems in the aforementioned post regarding tense and word usage. It made it difficult to understand...
Kind of like what happened at UCLA yesterday.
Well (I'm completely out on a limb here after 4 beers at lunch...) I'm reasonably certain that a campus like UCLA would have it's own police force...complete with pistols, night sticks, and, yes, 9mm's. I know that the low-light acheiving athletic school of the U of W (in Seattle...) has their own police force for the campus and surrounding areas...it is its' own autonomous force even in the city limits of Seattle....go figure....
The UCLA police department has had a horrible reputation for years. I had a few friends who went to college there, and I have heard the stories and had to deal with them a few times myself. Im not surprised in the least that something like this has happened.
I noticed that there were 2 kinds of UCLA cops: disgruntled and the ones who are on a power tripnot exactly the kind of people who should be dealing with college students.
Is that a normal Thursday occurrence?
You might want to start having lunch meetings at places where people get up and introduce themselves by first name
And the sheep stood there and watched? I don't know about you, but watching that made my blood boil (eg: curb a cop). Mob violence in aisle 3, pls.
