ULTIMATE elbow pads

Alright, so I'm about a month out from being able to ride again. I need some elbow pads that will make my elbows ABSOLUTELY INDESTRUCTIBLE. I need to be able to take a bullet straight to the elbow and just have it bounce off. I need to be able to laugh off Jesse Ventura mashing on my 'bows with a baseball bat.

I don't care how bulky or hot or expensive the pads are. I need MAXIMUM PROTECTION and MINIMUM slippage.

So let me have it... what's THE BEST out there? I'm thinking perhaps pro-designed. I am going to ax the doctor about bracing options, i.e. donjoy, etc, and see if what I need is bracing or a shell + padding.

man, i say hockey equipment.

they have some gnarly ass elbowpads, that protect more of the arm than a slim ass mtb pad.

I was just about to say BMX-type elbow pads. That would probably be your 'off-the-shelf' option. MTB stuff is too thin.

Hey,

I don't have time now but i can deffently help with the pad situation.
I have a contact that does custom fitting of pads and what not taught me how to make my pads fit right and safetly, doesn't matter how much padding if it moves or doesn't cover the area right.

PM me and ill put you on track for something that will work correctly.

If you are considering hockey elbow pads, check out Easton stuff. Believe it or not, Easton makes some of the nicest hockey equipment out there. Their high end gloves and pads have some air/gel/whatever padding that's supposed to protect really well. My friend the hockey playing plastic surgeon refuses to put his hands in anything but Easton gloves.

Hockey pads are great but most are made for hockey, the ice is slippery so the pads dont have to be. Using them on dirt means most pads won't have a plastic shell and will not slide on the dirt and gravel unless you cut up some pads and modify the hockey pads. There are some very plush hockey elbow pads mine are top of the bauers and are huge, those are the results of too many helbow landings, they are plush and were like 75 dollars, good luck.

I think hockey pads just might be your best bet. Just be sure to buy some with plain plastic on the outside, not some sort of fabric cover.

For what it's worth, I played hockey for six years, and despite constantly falling on my elbows, I don't recall ever having gotten more than a not-too-bad bruise.
