KIEV, Ukraine – Want a better understanding of the world's worst nuclear disaster? Come tour the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Beginning next year, Ukraine plans to open up the sealed zone around the Chernobyl reactor to visitors who wish to learn more about the tragedy that occurred nearly a quarter of a century ago, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Monday.

after seeing the ghost town images and documentaries for years, i think id actually like to go to the area around Chernobyl, particularly Pripyat. i dont think id venture to the reactor area though

I'd like to see it, in that 'this is what happens when nature takes back it's own' way, but would be scared ishtless of the radiation.

I would like to see that. I have seen photos and it looks surreal.

I have read that the radiation is not too bad as long as you stay on concrete/asphalt. Not sure if it's true, though.

the photos do make it look totally surreal.
i do believe the radiation isnt as bad as it was years ago (obviously).
like the article mentioned, there are tours that go through there.

All that footage that Discovery or someone did for "Life after people" was crazy. A whole town untouched for nearly 20 years to just grow and be.
