.....so I'll post it here.

I just got the email from a guy at work. Uh...Is it racist much? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think...

Black hurricanes....

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something
else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila
Jackson Lee, of Houston), reportedly complained that the names of
hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.

She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such
as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this
up!

She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language'
that street people can understand because one of the problems that
happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the
seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the
weather report.

I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at
140+ MPH, thats too hard to understand.

I can hear it now: A weatherman in New Orleans says...

Wazzup, mutha-fukkas! Hehr-i-cane Chamiqua be headin' fo' yo ass like
Leroy on a crotch rocket!
Bitch be a category fo'! So, turn off dem chitlins, grab yo' chirren,
leave yo crib, and head fo' de nearest FEMA office fo yo FREE ****!

We don't really have an HR dept....nor do we have an "internet policy". The letters NSFW mean nothing. I saw people watching Two Girls, One Cup here. It's crazy.
Sue the company for not providing a workplace free of racism, sexism, and sexually explicit material. Start documenting the incidents right now, and you might be able to retire from the settlement by the end of the year.

here's an idea... instead of the NOAA or whatever the national weather group is called who is in charge of naming storms, they should auction off the rights to name them. This could raise some serious dough.

Tropical Storm Auqafina

Seriously, Rep. Lee had asked for NOAA to consider adding "African-American" names to the list. My question: What are the metrics used to determine what constitutes an "African-American" name?

Find an older white guy in your company, preferably one in charge of hiring. Give him a stack of equivalent resumes. The first batch he puts on the reject pile will be the African-American names.

in fact, shouldn't all hurricanes have AA names, as they are borne out of africa?
