does anybody has an argument against giving more power to UN, on the grounds of "sovereign" and stuff??

is there any difference, or reason to believe there is a difference in moving from a "national-ethnical gvmnt" to a "world or bigger chunk of the world gvmt".. than say moving from feudalism into nationalism??? :think:

I would like to see a more powerful UN, but first I'd like to see a UN that actually notices when people are killing each other (Rwanda, Sudan), instead of squabbling over individual members that hurt their feelings.

The international dollar is a hypothetical unit of currency that has the same purchasing power that the U.S. dollar has in the United States at a given point in time. It shows how much a local currency unit is worth within the country's borders. Conversions to international dollars are calculated using purchasing power parities (PPP). It is comparisons both between countries and over time. For example, comparing per capita gross domestic product (GDP) of various countries in international dollars, rather than based simply on exchange rates, provides a more valid measure to compare standards of living.

Figures expressed in international dollars cannot be converted to another country's currency using current market exchange rates; instead they must be converted using the country's PPP exchange rate used in the study.

Something just occured to me. Does GDP take into account multi-national corporations?
I mean, does the revenue and consumption net from the BMW plant in VA go toward Germany or the US? Conversly if a US company manufactures in China does stuff go toward China or the US? ...and since New Zeland produces jack-sh$t what are they good for anyway? :nuts:

No, no it's not. The above example is picking a specific subset of the wealthy and the poor. We could easily pick another subset of the wealthy and the poor that behave quite the opposite.

If a subsistence farmer has an annual income of $100, from whom is he/she consuming wealth? If a CEO gets a $10M bonus while his pensioners watch their savings disappear, who is consuming wealth from whom?

Being wealthy doesn't automatically mean your supporting others, and being poor doesn't automatically mean you need support.

yo wait.. i think you are assuming things that are not supossed to be assumed.

firstable, the GDP is the product of every company inside its borders, be it foreign owned or national owned.

2nd able, your idea of "wealth consumption" kinda relies on the "fact" that the needy "consume" others wealth, which is not necesarily truth.

3rd able.. how does "wealth distribution" gets to play in this "giving more power to UN", and where is the link?? that was my question...
i just talk about giving more power to the UN, so we switch from a nation based system, into a world gvmt based system.. just like the switch from feudalism to nationalism, to broaden the decition-making universe to include the voices of those who get "taxation without representation"...

and about peru, yeeeeahhh!! 5100 bucks a year of percapita.. thats pretty good considering 10 years ago it was like 3000. bwhahahaha... the only problem with SouthAmerica and its per capitas, is that SA has the worst income distribution and wealth distribution in the universe.... so if 5100 a year is the average, that kinda means that 5% make about 25k a year, and the rest like 1000 a year...

a better index of wealth and overall wealth is the gini index....

and another thing that kinda amazes me... is the fact that peru, as poor as it is, its around the top 50% of the world... so that means around half the other countries live in poorer conditions... :eek:

and that mexico (the poorest place in the world according to the US population), is in fact quite high up the mankinds ladder of wealth...

It's a brand of clothing that used to be real exclusive, sort of thing trust fund babies or Paris Hilton might wear but then for some unknown reason, in England, it was worn by a couple of P Diddy style rappers then became a fashion brand briefly for FHM reading males then took the plunge to becoming the aparel of choice of the common townie/chav/bogan/fluff (choose your epithet) and on the way they dropped their prices. Now their trademark 'Burberry' disgusting check is the colour of 1,000,000 little mobile phone toating illiterate 14 year old c**ts who roam the town centers and mall of the UK.

I am wearing plaid right now....but it aint Burberry.

I guess that explains it. My buddy is a poser Ghetto wanna be (though funny to me) so he must have seen it in the local mall.

He went through his Hilfiger phase too. Too funny.

Is there masculine and feminine Burberry patterns? Because I saw Madana's spawn with a skirt in the same pattern/color as my buddy's hat.
