Hey Monkeys,

My boy inkpad just called from the rampage. Kyle Straight with a 65, some say 75 foot, no handed suicide step down into some other crazy stuff....his cell phone kept breaking up so I wasn't sure how the whole run went down.

He said Atkinson pull some serious high speed jumps, hips, and wall ride that was insane.

Ink also reports that Gracia was hurt with a shoulder injury.

Sorry I dont have the full report, but I figured some info is better than none at all.

Nice - it looks like Romaniuk has his left foot on the seat in that second shot.

edit: until you look at his shadow that is.

I he the guy who rocks the old Giant?

I am hoping riding old DH bikes will be new cool trend so I don't have to buy a new bike.

At this point...amazing results. Nice to see how it turned out. (even though wade is god haha)...Romaniachuckchuckchuck is one of my favs and kyle is just unreal to watch and so versatile...Gee I have only read about, but I guess he stepped it up in the NA market :)

Ben Reid is funny, I can't believe that frame is holding up on that stuff. Good on the kid though. He's one to watch for.
As for Gee, great year for him, I expect to see a big name company stepping up to have him ride for them. Expect to see good things from him next year too.

Woo hoo, Lance! Way to go man.
Spoms just informed me Lance crashed in his 2nd run and got a compound fracture to his femur and was life-flighted out. Anyone have info on this and an update on how he's doing??

What happened on Lance's 2nd run? NSMB had it as a DNF (http://www.nsmb.com/shore_news/rampagefinals_brief_10_04.php)...

Edit - TMX beat me to it...
The bit I heard was that he had a wacky landing and ultimately ended up crashing and that it didn't look that bad from afar. But he said the medics were sprinting to get to Lance and that's when he realized the crash was worse than it looked. Someone was heard saying that he'd just lacerated his thigh, but there was also concern that an artery might be involved in that as well. But that's all sideline speculation. Looking forward to confirmation that he's okay.

Just tried to call Lance at work.
They said he was back in Grand Junction, but spent most of the night in the hospital cleanin out them wounds-no broked leg,but lots o stitches.
He should be back at work in the mornin.

MAJOR PROPS to this guy,an old friend.Man we used to do about the same size airs, and be really close racin.I can't believe how HUGE he is going now!!!
That Super T wall is beyond freaky to even look off of!!!
Lance is da man!!!
Heal up!

I'm not trying to derail this thread so don't you guys make Luc beat any horses-But the mega rearward wheelpath of the Canfield is perfect for sticking huge high speed drops into loose soil. :dancing:

Lance is a cool cat and he definitely goes grande!

Glad to hear he's alright (for the most part).

Krispy, I know what you mean about it being sketchy to just stand at the edge of that drop, last year I was filming from there for a while and when I had my eye in the viewfinder I would get all unbalanced and sketched out. Not something I'd ever consider riding my bike off of! Plus if you are sketchy on the landing there isn't much run-out to speak of (ala Mike Wilson last year, same area = ruptured spleen!)

Lance was riding his custom steel bike, not an F1.I think he had an Avy on the steel bike but uses a swinger on the F1 that he mostly rides.I really doubt that the F1's specifically blow shocks, what have you been blowing-Romics?perhaps the frame mounts could be out of alignment, but that bike doesn't have a bad rate that would be hard on shocks.
PS F1's are light dh bikes, like 10 lbs.Not huck monster bikes-they do still take orders for custom steel bikes though.

I too got the impression he was referring to the F1 which is not a shock eater...

The ATX makes much more sense. Oh the avoided confusion just by using the provided quote feature. :p

Hey Krispy
I was on a F1 at the Rampage. I just wanted everyone to see what it will do and how well our design holds up. I had a Manitou rear on my first run and broke the damper shaft on the super T drop. That is why I had a DNF on the qualifiers. I put a Romic on and no problems. Sent myself over the Super T drop 4 times this weekend! The last run in finals I hit a ditch on the runnout off ST and sent me rolling. Kinda freak accident. I think the bike flipped in front of me and I tumbled into it, hitting above my knee on the stem and ripping it open to the bone. I have a partially reattached tendon and muscle and something like 40 stiches. I'll be in a splint for a month and then some rehab.
Thanks everyone for the concern.
Cheers
Lance
PS anyone have more pics?

I can't believe how much this has progressed since last year! That super drop is huuuge and a few people were hitting it this year. I wish I would have gone out again this time :(

As I recall he walked away from it... after a breif pause.
