Today’s it’s going viral.

The Obama posters feature Obama draw as Heath Ledger Joker and adds the captions of socialism or socialist. The Los Angeles location of the posters haven’t been identified which have appeared on some news sites crashing today and reportedly snapped by photographer “Chris”.

The poster’s author has not been identified. And all the snaps are reportedly from the same on-ramp, yet with unconfirmed comments on blogs today saying the poster is appearing also at on-ramps / underpasses in the Hollywood area.

I must admit, I don't get it.

Full-fledged huh? I think you're either a full-fledged hyperbolist or a half-fledged retard.

The guy isn't nearly as far left as you think he is, and compared with most other world leaders, is actually really moderate.

Taking money from future to re-distribute in the present?
Govt. based healthcare?
The debt holder hack job and subsequent give-away to the unions of GM and Chrylser?

If he's forcibly taking money that is owned by someone, and giving it to someone else, he is socializing the system.

But then again, I might just be an old-fashioned, hard-working, eat what you kill capitalist. win-survive-lose. Those are your options. If you don't like losing, change your life. What I work for is mine; I will give you what I feel like sharing.

Much like with religion, and unless you're a zealot (which you obviously are) any reasonable person can see that every political philosophy has something positive to offer... particularly in situations like the one we have now. Obviously you live by the mantra of "f*ck it, I got mine" so I wouldnt expect you to understand this, but people's boot straps don't appear to be enough right now. Maybe we should just let all those POS auto workers starve though.

We call those "taxes" and Obama didn't invent them.

I've actually never read Atlas Shrugged. I am a believer in taxes when the money goes to the bettering of all. ie. Roads, schools, hospitals, etc. I live in a city (*I just moved out because of this, I still work here through) where the homeless make between cash and services nearly $2500/month form the city. This is exlcuding SS, medicare, etc. That income is not taxed, as the are "in poverty". This city is so underfunded that we just had to take out a $600mm bond to fix the roads. That is what our taxes are for!

Yeah, it sure feels good to have my earnings given to someone else. I don't even get good roads out of it.

If you think you have a better solution then run for office.

Also, LA is a total cesspool.

The problem with socialism is that everyone associates it with the Failboat that was the USSR. Stalin wasn't a socialist, nor was his regime. It was a Dictatorship masquerading behind a facade of socialism. Do I consider myself a socialist? Absolutely not. But there are certain aspects of it I could stand behind. I don't think its a bad thing for all citizens to have health insurance. We're all paying for everyone else's medical treatment already anyways.

I am against building up our military as well. We have enough, and and by and far the dominant (tech-wise) army globally.

I don't even see what went on in the last 8 years as building up our military as much as circumventing our military to perform their tasks, at a much higher cost.

Personally that pisses me off way more than the idea of using tax dollars to keep us alive (in a much more direct and literal sense).

See what I'm getting at?

We've got a pretty big tax pot to pull from. Getting pissed about some of it going to healthcare seems a bit silly in juxtoposition with previous practices.

What I earn goes towards my healthcare already anyway. The current setup sucks balls, so why go whining about tax dollars going towards a potentially better system? Both get paid for by you (us) anyway.

And you missed your chance to cry about the loss of a free market in the 20s........when it worked horribly for the nation at large.

Democracy? I want representatives who push some meaningful healthcare system through because I want every insurance company that's denied me surgery costs in the past to suck my dick. And that's who I'll elect in our semi democratic system. :D

I wish I could find it again, but I read recently that the US spends more on military budget over runs, as in just what projects go over budget, than China spends on its entire military.

I'm with Kidwoo, 1 Billion for health care is a drop in the bucket. Fvck the health insurance companies. Scrap a couple F-22's and its paid for. Did you know that that over priced POS hasn't even flown in combat? I guess since were not involved in any sort of conflicts there just isn't any place to send it to. :banghead:

Because dictatorship is the ultimate path of socialism. You can watch history repeat itself live just by following what Chavez is doing in Venezuela.

All of our military funds are not just spent towards blowing other people up. Part of that also goes to employ and educate a fair amount of Americans. A lot of the funds that the US military spends researching new technologies also trickles down to the average consumer. Their large budget allows them to research and implement a lot of technologies that even the biggest commercial businesses wouldn't be able to.

re: Military Industrial Complex speech

I sell into manufacturing, and I have several customers who do some fairly high tech sh!t for the military. A tiny sliver of my entire customer base, but they're there.

Most of my accounts have either closed entirely, moved their operations to the south where they need not deal with Union labor, or have downsized to the point of 'surviving'.

But those militray contractors are thriving. I was in a plant where my customer is finishing rocket propelled grenades; 20K per week, 4 year contract. Another makes engine components are finishes them with chemical agent resistant coatings, and they working to full capacity.

I asked them why the boom in business while other manufacturers are shutting their doors and their short answer is "everyone is ramping up for the Iran war."

Cut military spending by 2/3 for 2 years. Problem solved. Stimulus paid for. Deficit paid for. Lots of of out of work young men with combat training roaming the streets... erm, not so good. So basically the only real reason to keep our military is so we don't have a coup.

F 22 has been scrapped already...
No. All that happened was additional orders were canceled. There are 203 F22s at and estimated 350 million dollars to buy and operate for its life span. The Air Force claims it can get by with 60.

You are correct, but only partially. Pay and benefits for our soldiers is only 35 percent of the military budget.

Yeah right.
I agree, Chavez is a tool. Another Failboat Captain.

Dictatorship isn't the ultimate path of Socialism (based on historical Socialist theory). However, it unfortunately is the path of every single person/politician/group/coup/what-have-you who has gone out and actually tried and implemented Socialism. In theory only, Socialism is a good thing. All executions of it, to date, were Epic Fails. The problem is the human factor. Humans, as a whole, are not evolved enough to handle that kind of society yet.

To assume humans would be evolving in any particular direction, particularly with regard to how they'll conform to some societal structure or government in the future isn't realistic. Also, the idea that a socialist society is more "advanced" is debatable.

Yeah right.

How exactly does a democratic socialist state become a dictatorship? I suppose a good chunk of western Europe (socialist by US standards) is headed for dictatorship?

"Socialist by US standards" means any relevant country NOT named the USA.

Also, any leader who's not a conservative southern baptist = muslim dictator.

I love when people rag on the health care as socialist or that our president is pushing us towards being socialist. Have any of these people taken a hard look at the US? We have socialized medicine already and many socialized services. Many people couldn't retire without Social Security because they do a piss poor job of planning. A few of our socialist programs: social security, medicaid, medicare, military, police, firemen, schools, unemployment
