So, the dexterq and I went to N* today for his last day of riding before leaving for college. At most there were only 10 actual bikers, with about 40-50 unicyclers. Not just on the fire roads...but hitting STD, Karpiel, and Boondocks. You gotta give them one-wheeled bastards respect for being able to pull all these stunts with just one wheel. It was more than a peloton of cyclists, it was a uni-ton!! (sorry, I've been saving that one all day). Not only was it an interesting day watching the uni's hit the northshore and logs at the bottom of vista lift, we also got to chill on the chair lift with Kris Holm . He was the uni in Disorder 2. It was a fun day, them iz be cool people.

I can ride a unicycle. Seriously. It's lame.

You can grab the seat and hop it around like a pogo stick. There's no flow to it.

Stick to bikes, trust me.

I've seen some pretty good ones in Auburn going down the trails.

There are some local guys who ride there fairly frequently. I kind of have the same reaction to them as I would someone on a trials bike hopping down dogbone. The ones I know are super cool...one's actually a pretty active trailbuilder/biker as well. Some of the guys I've met though act as if you're in the wrong for not coming to a stop and oggling at their marvelous feats.

It wasn't so bad today, I would yell out "OUTTA MY WAY UNI" and they'd stop their incessant hopping and get off the trail. damn it, they went so slow down the hill. They're good, but, I agree kid, I don't want to oogle at them, just let me ride my cycle the way it was meant to be rode, with 2 wheels and 26"s. They run the 24"s with wicked low pressure. While talking with Holm about his uni-rig, he's got DH tubes with something like 12-16psi. I was wondering why doesn't he just get some stan's tubeless. meh.

I mountain bike and mountain uni.......both are fun but they're totally different sports. I get a sense of achievment from mUni that biking can never give me, HOWEVER mountain biking is a lot more fun and has a lot more flow to it. Plus mUni is not fun at all in the dead of summer....moving 5MPH when it's 95F outside and 99% humidity sucks.... ;)

Oh, one more thing, it's unicyclists not unicyclers........I don't think unicyclist is even a word in the dictionary but that is how we refer to ourselves (and I don't know why)

there's a guy that comes into the local bike shop all the time with his uni. he keeps buying cranks and hydrolic rim breaks. seems fun to learn how, but somehow, the flow of biking seems more attractive. plus if i was moving down the trail at 4 mph on a downhill run, i think the people behind me would be pissed, so i say that the unis stick to the uni places. wherever that is.
