Up Date on 2.5" weirwolf tires

I now have just over 900 miles on these tires and they still have most of the tread. They wear amazingly well. I have not had a single flat tire yet either!

Many of the miles have been at an inflation of 30-35 PSI I have gone lower when conditions required but rarely higher then the 35PSI. The ride is brutal with 40 PSI reminds me of a hard tail!

The lack of flats is amazing, probably the most miles without a single flat I have ever ridden. I have a 35 pound Kona Stinky too, it's not like a featherweight bike.

I'm anxious to try the 2.5 Michilins but these WTB wierwolfs wear so well I will probably have them till mid summer at the rate they are going. Most tires I have used by the time I have 500 miles show wear and have had flats. These look so good It's almost as if they are still new.

It's honestly the longest wearing most flat resistant, functional off road tire I have ever used.

Would you care to go into a little more detail? Which casing are you using?

What conditions do you ride in? Rocks, dirt, sand, wet, dry?

How is cornering (and climbing) traction? A hard compound tire that can go 2000 miles is pretty worthless if it corners like sh*t......

These are the light case, the tires weigh 750g as I recall.

I live near Snoqualmie pass in Washington state. Much of my rides include gravel and rock. Mud here and there but no huge wet mudholes. There is quite a lot of muddy single track and roots. I have also used them for at least a few hundred miles in snow.

I have no complaints in the cornering dept, uphill climbs, or easy rolling hardpack. The only drawback so far is the 2.5 size stated is really more like a 2.3" tire. My Tioga DH were 2.3 and visually a bigger tire. They lasted about 700 miles and I started getting flats every week even though the tread was still usable. The rubber just seemed to break down.

I even replaced the tubes for the tiogas but they still flatted frequently. Interesting that they never flatted for the first 600 miles but by the 700 mile mark they were always losing air.

The other set were motoraptors. They were excellent and I have had only one flat tire. At 1200 miles the tread was gone. Actually at about 900 it was gone but I was stubborn to change them. They were an excellent tire with lots of cushion and good traction for my needs. The weirwolf are a little bit smaller but have better cornering and over all traction then the motoraptors.

I've looked at those, but I'm concerned about their ability to deal with the wet, rooty and rocky north east conditions...that and I love my Mobsters! ;)

I have a set of 2.1 weirwolfs on my xc ride ond the are some of the best cornering xc tires i have ever riden iv been pumped to ty some out on my big hit. i have noticed those big side nobs do fold some on fast hardpact corners, do the 2.5 do the same thing or is the biger casting a little stifer?

I don't think they fold over enough to worry about, but you would need to be the judge of that for your use.

I have noticed they corner excellent for my needs but I rarely turn hard on hard packed roads, I'm usually on softer gravel or wet conditions. They have a very square profile, much different then the ballon style rounded profile of the Tioga's or the Motoraptors I have used on my stinky in the past.

That flat profile may help the edge dig in and may also be responsible for the folding over of the knobs?

Livin it up in the O.C.
I just double flatted my 2.5s (the 750g ones mentioned above) in a race 2 weekends ago.
They DO have a lot of traction, but you can't get away from pinch's w/o a beefy sidewall.

I actually think their cornering on hardpack is bad. I can't speak for wet conditions, but on hardpack their edge does not dig in. Plus, becaus the profile is not ropunded they tend to loose traction with little to no warning. But they are not designed for hardpack anyway. They are a wet conditions tire. The maxxis seem to do better on hardpack on average
