I am trying to decide whether I should save for a new bike or upgrade my rear, horrible shock works coil shock to a Fox Float R. I am riding a Marin Alpine Trail (TARA system adjustable travel) and my local LBS says upgrading from a "no name" shock to a Float R will entirely change the way my rear suspension works, and it will feel like I am riding a brand new bike.

Can an upgrade in a rear shock make this much of a difference? I like my frame, I just hate the rear end, and I am looking for advice on whether or not a new rear shock can make such a huge difference.

Thanks

a good shock kicks butt. i have the wildcat trail and love it. when the fox works, it's great. try and get a romic, they feel much betterand climb better. they also don't blow up after 4 rides
