It’s been a busy three weeks for Team Sho-Air/Specialized, starting off with round #4 of the Pro XCT series in Colorado Springs, where Monique Mata took a solid second place in the Pro women’s cross country race behind Luna’s Katerina Nash. In doing so, Monique took over the Pro XCT series points lead with two rounds to go.

Up next was the Galena Grinder that took place on June 30th. Both Brendon Davids and Monique took their respective Pro class wins, with Mata sealing up her second Pro UET (Ultra Endurance Tour) title, while Brendon Davids catapulted to the front of the men’s rankings with his win.

The team then moved onto Sun Valley Idaho for several days of racing for USA Cycling’s mountain bike nationals.

Ty Kady was the first member to score the team a win, in a come from behind ride in the Master’s 30+ short track race on Friday, with team mate Eric Bostrom picking up the final podium spot in 5th. This was Ty’s second straight masters 30+ US National title in two years.

The following day, U18 rider Cody Phillips had the ride of his season with an impressive 3rd place in a highly stacked 17-18 junior men’s field. Cody will now move on and ride for the powerful Lees McCrae College in NC starting in August. The team wishes Cody all the best in his new endeavors.

Eric Bostrom rode a great race to garner the team’s next podium, as EBoz the former AMA Superbike racer picked up a 3rd place in the hyper competitive CAT 1 35-39 cross country class. This was Eric’s second podium on the weekend.

Monique Mata kept the team’s podium streak rolling on Saturday with a great 4th place finish in the women’s pro cross country race. The field was deep with talent, including Olympians Georgia Gould and Lea Davidson along with several other world cup regulars in the field. Pua rode her S-Works 29 HT with Maxxis tires, formula brakes, KMC chain and ESI grips to a brilliant ride!

Sunday would be the last day for the team to pick up some more podiums and hopefully a few more wins.

As it would turn out, a last minute decision by Ty Kady to race the CAT 1 30-39 Super D would prove to be the team’s second National title on the weekend as he took the win aboard his “modified” S-Works Epic 29 with Maxxis tires and formula Brakes. For Ty it was his second national title on the weekend.

Cody Phillips also got in on the Super D party and picked up a 5th place in the 17-18 junior men’s division, even on a borrowed bike.

At the end of the week, the team earned two national titles, two bronze medals and a total of seven podium appearances on the weekend
