Any suggestions on locating a used BMX bike for a 4 year old (16" wheels)? The Redline Pit Boss fit him, but $300 is a bit steep for a kid that enjoys crashing his toys. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If he does not plan on racing, just about any ( I shudder to even say this) department store bike will work. Just swap out the parts you don't like and that will hold him over for another year.

    - Or-
Spend the money on the Pitboss or Grom X. Free Agent also makes a nice little 16 incher called the Lil' Homie and is not quite as expensive as the pit boss. Call Scott @ bike works he can hook you up with Free Agent stuff VERY affordably 425-334-7812.

    -Or
If you think he will start racing, skip the 16 and go for a used "race mini"

My son is 10 and when he is not racing, he still hops on his 16 incher quite often. But if I had bought the department store bike way back when, there is no way it would still be around for him to ride....

Thanks for the info. I am not sure if he will race, but we are already hitting the trails and the redline had a low seat height.
