I'm trying to figure out if the large v10 is going to be big enough for me (I'm really tall). Has anyone ridden a large? Is the TT shorter than the old large v10? I used to be on a large Yeti DH9... which fit perfect. So I'm wondering how this would compare. Here's the stats from SC's website:

Is the TT length listed actual or effective? I'm also looking at the IronHorse Sunday. Here's the stats on the large:

Is the Sunday going to have more cockpit room then the large v10? They list it as having a longer top tube, but based on the diagrams it looks like they're measuring it differently. Also... is the Sunday really that slack? 65 is a pretty raked out head angle.

The Sunday is an effective TT measurement. I am 6'2 and comfortably ride the 19" frame. The bike does indeed have a slack HT angle relative to some other bikes but, those who have ridden the bike will attest to how quick the bike is in corners. The Sunday is a purebred race bike. It is slack and low. It is designed for going faster than you or I can ride it.

One thing on the Sunday that you should know is that the bike is designed around an 8" fork, and a onePointFive headtueb with zerostack reducers, and the head angle is shown for that 8" front fork. Just by sliding the fork in the stantions, you can get the head angle to 65.5 with the 8" fork, and that is what I would consider bordering on steep for that much travel up front for a DH race bike.

I believe that the V10 and Sunday are measured the same way.

Hope this helps!

What fork are you going to buy? It might be good to decide now if you are so worried about HA's and such.

You might want to look into buying either Mike or Bikeninja's rides. They are both are planning on selling them so they can ride for Nicolai.

In other news:
How are the ladies on the ship? Any good stories to tell us all?
Did you catch any weird jungle diseases while in Africa?

I'm not sure on the fork yet... it will depend on how much I insurance I actually collect.

Mike and Eric are going to ride for Nicolai?! Damn... I've really been out of the loop. E-mail me details. Anyway, neither of their bikes would fit me.

Africa was good... I came out ok but my buddy got dangue feaver (crazy jungle disease to which there is no treatment) while we were in western Tanzania... he was pretty messed up for a while. Anyway, I'm in Brazil now... don't really have to worry about that stuff unless I head into the amazon.

Anyway, I was just kind of confused because the Sunday diagram shows the TT measured from the head tube to the interesection of the seat tube. The v10 chart shows the TT measured from the head tube to the seat collar... which would be a shorter measurement.

The V10 is listed as actual TT length, where the IH is Effective TT length. Hence the V10 will probably have a slightly longer Effective TT length. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and the IH Sunday 19" is very comfortable, I too am battling on which bike I want to get!! I wish it was like buying a car, at least you can test drive a few cars to help make your decision, buying a DH bike is a commitment kind of like blind faith!!

Ok... that's what I was thinking, but DW said he thought they were measured the same way. I wish bike companies would standardize this, or do something like list the downtube length (which is probably a better indicator of the bike's actual size)

Yeah no kidding... I hate having to make such a huge decision without actually riding any of the bikes I'm looking at.
