I'm really not sure what I want to see moar, Gwin smashing it on a large or getting a worse result than Fort William. Each is going to cause the best internets evaaar!

I doubt the Large has that drastic effect on his result, the design of the frame is still the design and don't think it suits his riding style as well as it does Brosnan's or even when Sam was on it.

Regarding the tight shirts, I thought many of the racers had very tight shirts. Even Hill had a rather fitting outfit. I miss the days with the Moto pants.

Ben Reid's mom does her job rather well.
It's the search for the tenths of a second, so tightening the jerseys make absolutely sense.

On the other hand DH tracks should be built that aerodynamic advantages aren't important, imo. You can win VdS in baggy jeans too.

behind you with a snap pop
3 North Carolina Jrs qualifying with Luca Shaw in 4th, and Jay Fesperman in 12th. It is cool as hell to see the kids blowing by you at the local races getting their shot at the big time.

Gee leading out Gwin by 1.362, followed by Smith, Brook, Hill, and Hart, and Minnaar.

I think that's gonna be the podium, albeit mixed up a little.

gwin was also fastest at splits 1 & 2, but pretty far down at the speed trap (currently 15th). Sunday is going to be RAD.

Gwin has a history of not really throwing down in quali's, wonder if that is the case right now or is he out for blood?
Definitely out for blood. His position at the last WC means he'll need every point he can muster to catch up. One race in but you can't anticipate wins later on, everything counts. Gee is still going to be ahead of him if Gwin wins but Gee podiums.

Hoping Smith finds another gear and blasts out another win.

Now we have to buy a large demo.:D
It seems to work.
What I am kind of wondering is why he had to go up in size on the demo. According to the reach of the Session (XL=440mm) and the Demo (L=447mm), the demo should feel definitely longer. Stack can always be adjusted with bar heights, etc.

The Session has a wheelbase of 1224mm in XL (Demo in L = 1208), though...

Can someone comment on the size Gwin was rocking the last years?

Edit: So stocked to see Smith, Hill and Brook up there!

*sorry for the ridiculous font and headline but it only seemed appropriate given the over the top nature of this forum and all things gwin so far this season.
Ah, Gwinn saw the dirt magazine edit on thr carbon dh bikes test, large is the new medium

Wait you get points for qualifying results? I dont follow the point game, sorry if that is a dumb question...

Yup, 50 points to 1st, then 40, 30, 25, 22, etc.

I think they did it to stop guys from sandbagging quali's to start earlier in case of rain, etc.

Funny to see the "fastest rider in the world" dealing with the same between-size issues many mere mortals face.
This would be great if it spured the big bike companies to give the consumer a geo that fit the tweeners....like a med frame with a 23.5 ETT or 16-16.5 reach.

I've got an even better idea!
What if major bike companies fabricated their bikes in house and were able to rapidly make successive revisions of their bike for the top ranked racers in the world?
