Hi

My girlfriend and I are leaving the UK next week to hit up Vancouver and Vancouver Island for two weeks.

Just wondered if any locals on here have any recommendations for things to do and see, places to eat etc?

The plan is we fly into Vancouver, grab a hire car and drive to pender island. We have some friends there and will stay with them for a couple of days. We're then gonna head to Vancouver Island and drive upto Tofino. Plan to do some hiking, bear/wale watching and maybe try some surfing. We will be in Tofino for about 4 days then head back to Vancouver to drop of the car and explore for 4 days before we fly home. In Vancouver we would like to hike up Grouse Mountain and hire some bikes and ride through Stanley Park.

Thats about all we've got so far.

There's a hotel/sushi restaurant in Tofino that, at least last year, was owned by the local crack head. On occasions he would wander around the restaurant and harass staff and customers whilst tripping. Fun times.

If hiking Grouse, consider taking the BCMC trail instead of the overcrowded Grouse grind. Some awesome hiking off the back of Grouse too if you don't mind going a little further. Plenty of awesome food places to check out in Van.

If you don't mind spending a few bucks, check out Vij's for dinner. Really good.

Then there's Toshi for sushi near 16th and Main in Vancouver. Also really good, reasonable price, but not if you're in a hurry. There is often a line up.
