NE for college, CO when i can
well, I graduate on the 17th. Figure i need a proper venue to celebrate in. Just found an awesome deal to vegas. roundtrip airfare, 3 nights @ the stratosphere for $200/person. Flying out around noon on the 2nd, coming back the night of the 5th. Who's done the Vegas trip before, got any tips/tricks? We play mostly poker, and a little craps with the winnings.

I went to Vegas for spring break my senior year of college. My friend and I had an awesome time! I'll run you through my week...everything we did was so much fun:

Since you are staying at the Stratosphere, make sure you do the roller coaster on top. It is so scary. You can get an all-day ride pass for $20 and go up to do the rides both day and night for a different view.

If you are into sightseeing, the Hoover Dam/Lake Meade was a cool 1/2 day trip, and also very cheap. Lake Meade is gorgeous. I was also recommended Red Rock Canyon, which is supposed to be beautiful, but we ran out of time.

There is a great little karaoke bar at the Imperial Palace hotel/casino (middle of the strip, across from Caesar's Palace & Bellagio) where you can get a yard-long margarita, daiquiri, etc... yikes! Wicked fun though!

Check out the Bellagio fountains; they are pretty cool to see. Take advantage of the all-you-can-eat buffets too. They were super, especially the one at MGM Grand. Pretty much we just gambled and drank free drinks for the rest of the week. Texas hold 'em and blackjack were fun, but I played the penny slots to make my money last for hours! :D

Oh, and a good tip for navigating the strip: utilize the bus. This was great for evenings, when it was late and we were drinking. You can get a 24-hour unlimited pass for only $5. Walking is fine, but this is a good option if you need to get from one end of the strip to the other (it's farther than you may think).

If I think of anything I missed, I'll let you know. This doesn't seem to cover everything, but hopefully it's a start for you. Hope it helps. I am sure you will have a blast no matter what you do! :thumb:

¡Phoenix!
A buddy of mine came back after five days, and stopped by yesterday:

Me: "How was Vegas"
Him: "Not good"
Me: "What happened"
Him: "I need to borrow some money"

As a big fan of debauchery, I still don't know what people see in going there...

I LOVE Vegas...I went three times this year...there is a club at the Barbary Coast...tiny old school hotel that you would least expect a happenin club to be in...anyway...it is THE after hours spot...think it opens at 2 a.m. The fountain show at the Bellagio is awesome...go check that out...there is a bar called the Fontana that has a balcony overlooking it...it's great at night. Hoover Dam is really cool...the cool hotels to see are the Bellagio, the Wynn, and New York New York is pretty cool. There is a pirate show going on late afternoon early evening in front of Treasure Island...if you're a dude then stand to left if you are facing it since thats where the pirate wenches are...if you're a chick, the hot dude pirates are on the right side...ummm...the bar in the middle of the Hard Rock Hotel is HAPPENIN...lots of fun....the Palms hotel is pretty fun. For really cheesey fun, the Liberace and Elvis museums rock. Have fun...I am jealous...Vegas is a blast.

Vegas is ok...not all that. But what I hate most about Vegas is when people yell "VEGAS BABY VEGAS!" or some crap like that. Gahh! I hate that.

That or when they post pictures of themselves at the Palms or whatever and write that same thing underneath as a caption.

NO, no, no...you have it ALL wrong...you write...What happens in Vegas, baby, STAYS in Vegas! Usually nothing noteworthy happens in Vegas, unless you go to a whore house, so thats what people say/write to make people think they are really doing something naughty when in reality...they aren't seein any action...

Well the stratosphere was the first place we stayed at as well. Get ready for the stuff you see on cops in that section of the strip. The "dirty" stuff is out and in full force that far down the strip. The hotel wasn't too bad, but it's a good walk to the trendy casino's.

Like Douglas said, lots of places near by that the "champagne" is expensive. But if that's your thing the statosphere is right up your alley, everything is within a 5 minute walk.

You can do lots there between eating some great meals, gambiling a little bit, or just walking around and seeing the attractions. If there's a concert or event look into getting some tickets. I still to this day want to go see a UFC fight in vegas. Concerts are pretty fun and the shows are great too. My girlfriend went to see the blue man group and loved it. But alot of events in vegas you have to pay to play so tickets for shows aren't cheap either.

But other than that, see things, if you like guns you can go to the gun ranges and shoot automatic weapons and stuff. You could rent scooters, limos, whatever your budget desires. If you wanted to ride there's Bootleg Canyon that isn't far from the strip. It's just all on what time you have and what funds you have. But vegas can be a fun place!

The bus system is ok, but it can get crowded fast and it's slow. Takes a while if you're going from one end to the other, but otherwise isn't too bad if you're on a budget. Some of the hotels have little trams that take you from one to the other, they're free so I'd use those if you see them. Go check out the old strip too as the casino's in there seem "looser" than some on the strip. They are what's left of old vegas but they are all ok. Plus if your 21 you can just pretend you're at a machine and they'll bring you drinks for free! Well tip a dollar or something normal. Beer, hard drinks etc.... Just always tell them a double shot of whatever because the "jack and coke's" are more coke than jack :) But they don't care, they just do their job and make their tips.
