since im hot about weld jobs lately, , i just had to say that ventana has some of the nicest looking welds you can get on a bike. but i know nothing of how that frame works or how good it is
thats a really old bike, its more fitting of a trailbike build nowadays.
its all in the price and your intended application but if its for dh you want it, then the price would have to be really rock bottom for you not to do better looking at other, more contemporary models.
El Ratador....for those in the circle...heheheh thnx Robert!
Last year that bike was built I beleive was 97 or 98.
6" travel only...well, there was a way to make it 7" with a diff. shock length and stroke and putting the rocker in the farthest back position. But that really made the bike super soft in the first inch of travel, so really just a 6" bike anyway.
There is no way to put a front der. on this bike, so not so good as a "trail bike" thesedays unless you want to run a single chainring.
I rode one for a few years sold it to a buddy of mine and he road it for a few more and then he sold it to another freind who's riding it as a Downieville bike with a Marz. DJ fork on it and is having a blast.
But if you're looking for a true DH bike.....get that frame and use it for the "owner appreciaction discount" at Ventana....30% off retail or something like that. Any old Ventana can be used....and you don't have to be the original owner. They just like to pump out new bikes onto the trail.
yeah have fun with that bike - and when you are ready to get a new one - take advantage of the Ventana owner loyalty program they run. Up to 30% off on a new frame purchase I think is how it works.
