So I like video editing. God as my witness I am no good at it and need ideas. Couldnt find a good thread about good songs to go with videos. Thats always my biggest challenge is finding a good song to accompany the video. Also any ideas or good editing software that isnt $1000

asking people what song to use in a video is like asking on this forum "Hey what's the best bike out there?"

everyone has their own opinion, and there are countless people that won't agree with whatever you will pick. Read comments on a Pinkbike videos to see what I'm talking about :)
I've used all types of music in videos, hip hop, rock, mellow, electronica, dubstep....it all comes down to the a.) style of video and b.) how you edit using the music. Go ahead and use death metal if it makes you happy, just make sure you have thick skin when you post it to the interwebs for everyone to critque :)

Depending on the platform you are on, you can try and get your hands on a copy of Final Cut Express for Mac (not sure if they still sell it), or just go with the new FCPX which is like $400. It's basically a 'pro' version of iMovie.

For PC, Adobe Premiere Pro is awesome, and Adobe is running some awesome promotions lately to get people to switch to Premiere, I've seen 50% off MSRP.

Thanks, I know certain songs go well with videos and others not at all. looking for ideas of some that have worked good because ive found like 1 that works good. My first edit i thought turned out ok for my first edit. but nothing favorable by any means

And currently I am using windows movie maker. its good stuff dont get me wrong, but the capabilities arent here

Just go shoot something and edit it to a song you like. It'll probably suck but after you're done you'll have a much better idea of what to do next time. And that process will just repeat itself and one day you'll be stoked on what you're doing :)

Probably off topic, but I have no qualms pirating software like this.
Why pay thousands for the best, when you can download it free. You're not using it for capital gain nor do you do it for your job/living. Apps like Movie Maker is just pure crap and there seems to be a massive gap in the market between the " Movie maker" types and the "Final cut/Premier/Sony Vegas" type apps.

I had Adobe Premiere before my computer crashed.
I now use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0.
I prefer Premiere for the layout and ease of figuring out how things work since I have no training or experience with video editing other than just trying stuff.

I haven't paid for either copy. I had a coworker hook me up with them and a Keygen to run them. It seems to work fine.
