I usually work with final cut pro, but when I was foolin around with premiere on my 3 year old laptop (don't have the specs here) it would click back and forth instantly.
Although I only had premiere, itunes and firefox open.

I prefer one big monitor though.
What version are you using?

premiere elements 3.0

my jvs camera records in MOD. yeah, there are not to many

editing programs that import it.

it runs OK when open, but i should have got a faster CPU last

time i upgraded. i am also still don't have my AGP card working.

that will help some.

shouldn't be your proccesor, I have 1.3 pentium m with 512 mb ram.

Might have something to do with the MOD files or the fact that your using premier elements. (i'm using pro 2)

As far as I know a video editing program has very little benefit from a fast video card. Because it is all 2d it mostly uses your proccesor.
You won't need a fancy video card until you start rendering 3d effects.

i had pro but it doesn't take MOD's.

i have 3 HD 300G 160G and elements is on the last 60G with windows.

but i am saving all my clips and files on the 300G

think elements should be on there? my 60G is half full.

I looked around on the web real quick and apparently premier doesn't handle mod and mpegs (mod is basically an mpeg with ac3 audio) very well. I would try to convert the mod files to avi files (did the camera come with software?), as avi with dv encoding is premier's native format. Plus then you should be able to use premiere pro.
