Hey I need to get a new DH/FR helmet and was wondering if there was anything bad about the Vigor Vamoose II. It looks like it ventilates a lot and is light but still durable. If anyone has anything bad about this helmet post it up. Thanks
my friend has the carbon version and he's very happy with it, about 1.5 years with it and it saved his life more than once.
it's strong and light..
the only bad thing he has to say about it that it doesn't sit tight on the head, but maybe because he has a large size...
i saw a casco helmet, and its the exact same helmet as the vigor, but the casco price is atleast x2.
I just bought a Vamose II Carbon. But I have no bike right now, so I don't have any riding experience with it. It felt really good comparing it to other helmets that I tried on and a friend of mine swears by his.
I love mine. It saved my life already a few times. I have the carbon one and its light and well ventilated. You can take the pads out to wash it. Go-ride sells them for a decent price.
I had a few carbon ones and LOVED them. They are super light and look good to boot. I was just not crazy about the length of the jaw. Ended up selling 2 of them brand new to members ont he board when i got a freebie from dainese. I kept one juist because of how comfy it is.
Provided it fits your head it's a great helmet (not that it's a weird shape, helmet sizing and fit is important and they all seem to be different). I have redervations buying one again if mine gets totalled.
I've been using a Vamosse II for a few years now (probably should replace it...). I love it. Best fitting full-face bike helmet I've found thus far for my pea-sized head. I've whacked it on the ground a few times and it's still in one peice.
Next helmet will probably be a MX model though for more versatility.
Just so you guys know, Vigor (along with every other helmet manufacturer I've talked to) suggests replacing your lid every two years, and after every medium or harder impact. I know it sucks, but look at it this way, if you're racing a lot you probably go through $300 or more in rubber every season, so what's $150 on a helmet every other year?
I'm thinkin about gettin one of these too, since all I have right now is my half shell and my full on MX helmet which is no lighter than a cinderblock and has no ventilation whatsoever. I have a friend who has been very happy with his for about a year now I think, and another friend who just bought one. I tried it on, and it feels nice and comfy, and it was firm on my head at least.
Ummm, every other year?? I think I may be literally destroying the curve on this one. I probably go through a few helmets a season if I truly replace mine after every mid-size impact (and I try to!). I'm guess I'm crashing too much.
I usually get a new one when I crash and the helmet actually takes an impact with a rock or tree, or hits the dirt with most of my body weight behind it, instead of just protecting me from scraping on the ground. That seems to happen to me a lot. But I've only had one concussion in my life...
Good thing I usually score a deal on my helmets. I never pay over $100 for one, usually a lot less.
I don't know if you read the entire post or just skimmed over what I read. Replacing a helmet every two years equals out to $150 every other year based on most current helmet prices. If you hit something hard, you should replace your helmet no matter what. Try not to take everything out of context to make an arguable point about it if you can help it next time

See, this is what I'm talking about, trying to make an argument out of nothing.
Just kidding, I do think you're more the exception than the rule though. I know plenty of riders who will rock the same helmet for 3 years before they finally chip the clearcoat or something and decide it's time for a new lid. Just seems foolish to me.
