Since i have to take apart my vivid air to reposition the air can and looking through the tech manual for service they say to put in 3cc of maxima 15w50 oil into the can for lubrication.

First of i am a bit rusty when it comes to oil properties but the 50 stands for something heat related i think but what? I dont think i have to take it apart that much to reposition the can so i would have to replace the oil but would it be possible to use any other 15w oil. The shock wont see any longer runs than around 2 min and thats pushbike in barely 0 degrees of temp, so i dont feel like heat build up will be problem before i can track down the correct oil.

You can use whatever suspension oil you want in the air can, its just to keep the seals wet.

this, and I would add try to use the heaviest you can find...FOX Float fluid works really well for this application

No idea if it works well to use whatever happens to be sitting around as others have suggested, but float fluid and red rum are pretty much the same.
