Any of you had the joy of installing the rings into a Vivid? I am hoping to do it without the plastic holder for the can just not sure how tight it is. Will I need the plastic holder?

I looked at the service pdf and it shows that when I had the air can off I coulda just pulled the inner sleeve out and slid volume rings on it. Huh. Weird no one at Rockshox knew about this when I asked a few months ago. There's a chart saying how many rings you can fit in different length shocks. 10, 12, or 13

Yeah I didnt know and said go 1/2 way. I can't really tell a difference at least in the street. I am at about 250 PSI now and right at 30% sag. So I may have him fill it upl next time I do it.

What frame? I'm 170lb on a Nomad. I usually like a pretty linear spring so I can have only 30% sag and a firm ride but still use full travel. With the Monarch shock I'm content with the stock spring curve at 212psi. Wiith the Vivid I run 180-185 and get a good sag and feel but bottom it or nearly bottom more often than I should. The service pdf also mentioned changing to a firmer bump stop so that's another way to firm up the last 20% of travel.

just throwing this out there... are you sure you have the right shock tune for the frame?
