Hi from the UK !

Look at this picture of Ondrej Sosenka at the start of his successful Athletes World Hour Record. It comes from an independent news website. It can be found at http://bicirace.com/photo/2005/other/acquaSaponeOndrejSosenkaHourRecordMd.jpg

Compare and contrast with the picture below from the website of an Italian wheel manufacturer Vuelta. It originates from http://www.vuelta.it/news

Assuming the news report is correct it would appear that Vuelta have touched up the photo and claimed that Sosenka rode on their wheels. Checkout also the aero helmet which along with the wheels would never have been allowed for the Athletes Hour Record.

Vuelta Wheels would have you believe that the wheels were used in Sosenkas' successful Athletes Hour Record attempt. They were not !

I think that is a little different than what we are looking at here. Now if he set his record on a Schwinn and Huffy airbrushed thier name in it, I would agree.

But changing his jersey and rims doesn't seem like a big deal. What they need to do is photochop him clearing a 50 ft road gap on that bike with those wheels. Then I would run out and get me some for my road bike.

are you trying to be funny? If so, cool.

But rims are a key component.

BS. Also keep in mind that:

1. No one here uses Vuelta Wheels.
2. No one here races track.

Wheels are the highest tech item for road/track. Forks are for mtn biking. Think of it that way.

Wow and who are you, a marketing geek for the competition?

Short bus much? Come into a forum and clearly have no intention to contribute except to grind an axe you have...

He was probably sponsored by Vuelta at the time, and they want to push their new wheels. The ad copy is, of course, misleading. The photo really doesn't make any difference if they just said he rode vuelta wheels.

Nope, if you read the entire post you'll notice I addressed both issues. I see the idiot from the competition as more of a problem then a doctored image however.

You won't find a single product image in a print ad that hasn't been doctored in some way (especially if it involves clothing).

A little research (very little actually) reveals that Vuelta is the wheel company for team Acqua & Scapone.

So, I hereby deem this thread totally f*cking retarded.

I agree.

Best part is maybe the image was on practice/warmup wheels and was the best shot they got that day. SO if he actually did do the record on their wheels, they have every reason to shop in some new ones.

Like i said, this guy is clearly form the competition and needs to crawl back into the hole from whence he came.

I would think that if he were realy going for the record, he would not have 32 spoke conventional wheels, and a regular brain bucket. My guess is that the news had a shot from training/ warm-ups, or just plain the wrong event and the Vuelta website had a shot of him actualy working for the record, hence the aero wheels and helmet. Thats my opinion on the matter!

Damn it Frasier beat me to it by 30 seconds!

Naw it is clearly the same photo. They added some logos, and changed wheels (though I MUST say, it's quite the convincing 'shop).

My guess is warmup photo that was the only decent shot of the day and they doctored in his race wheels. I don't think an aero helmet is allowed for that record.

Trueth be told I didn't look at then that closley so the only thing that stood out was the Vuelta logo on his jersey, and being that the UCI was involved that aero helmet comment makes sense. But as a way to kill this thread and I'm sure you'll agree with me. This is a companies website, they can post whatever they want, had a newspaper done the PS work it would have been unethical, but on a companies site, no problems what so ever.

Of course, absolutely no product image goes to print undoctored.

My guess is that it is an attempt to fraudulantly claim that the wheels they want to sell you are the same as those used to beat a world record. They were not!

It would be a shame if these wheels were bought by anyone who was taken in by this fraudulant advertisement.

In the UK we have an Advertising Standards Authority who protect the general public from false advertising. Many of us have written to complain about this advert - let's hope they do something about it. I am certainly not "from the opposition" I simply don't want my fellow cyclists taken in by this advert.

The original photo can be researched by Googal and is, for example, at http://bicirace.com/photo/2005/other/acquaSaponeOndrejSosenkaHourRecordMd.jpg

The doctored photo is on the Italian Vuelta site at www.vuelta.it

I agree with you that it is indeed fraud, but the fact is, you've made 2 posts here, both on this subject... certainly seems like you've an axe to grind. Why is that?

BZZZzzt.
I have a set of Vuelta Excalibur wheels on my HT.
With that being said, I don't give a rats ass about lying in advertising.
I assume all ads are lies.

Yeah - or there is a man made beach at one of our local trails that I walk down to take a quick dip in the lake after summer rides, on occasion. I think I will head to the Gulf this summer. It's like 5 1/2 hours to Corpus or Rockport, and 7 1/2 hours to South Padre, so I don't go much. It's nasty, but it's a change. Not as many sharks as big oceans either, I don't suppose.

Let's be honest: what's your name, and who do you work for?

Anyone can say anything on the internet. This site thrives because of the industry people who post here who do not randomly post crap.

How dare they!

I'm just pissed that I played a CD that came in Maxim and there were no really hot chicks. No porn, no nothing. Scrubs had a penis pump last week. Axe can at least show chicks in thongs, by golly.

Isn't it a body spray. Dudes don't wear body spray, unless it's Stoney.
