isn't it worth $7/month to not support a company that treats its employees like scum, by all reports?

haha, try monthly rentals for $0 !!

Would that make the public library the anti-christ^2?

I don't understand why people pay rental fees. Well, maybe other libraries aren't as good? At mine, you can go online, see what's available, reserve 'em, have 'em transfered from other branches to yours, and even ask 'em to get stuff -- which they usually do and they put you on the top of the list.

Hell yeah! But they don't "guarantee it's in stock" like the pay-to-play places...... which goes against our instant-gratification society's instincts.

That and everyone doesn't have a library close to home........

*I* for one love the library. And am moving closer to my local one. :D

Wal Mart is awesome. Stuff is cheap there, and who cares if they treat employees like scum, I mean, since these guys are all illegal immigrants from Kazakhstan anyway, the working conditions at wal mart have to be better than back in kazakhstan. Its all about perspective, i say.

I don't mind the wal mart employees as much as the walmart customers. It used to be that you could walk into a walmart and there wasn't too much of a class distinction, not saying that I am one class or another, but lately it seems like the parking lot is littered with hobos, the shelves are picked clean and the checkouts have a line a mile long with redneck mothers who don't even try to control their chill'uns. Sure the employees are pretty helpless, but if I was an employee at a place that caters to that type of customer I think I'd make myself pretty useless too. Target on the other hand is just right down the street, carries slightly better quality products at about the same prices and the store is clean, well stocked and for the most part not nearly as busy as walmart, maybe dominating the market isn't as good as mr. walton thinks. I'd like superwalmarts in Ca because their prices are pretty darn low, but at the same time I think I'd continue to shop at the local grocery store because I don't like the type of customers that walmart attratcs or the way walmart management deals with them.

nice, your calling me an idiot?

I do not know where there is a wal-mart. I'm sure I could find one if I looked in the phone book but I live IN the city. we don't have a wal-mart in the downtown area of Seattle. or north seattle or south seattle...maybe west seattle, I don't know, I don't drive over there.

I worked for Walmart while in college and some in high school. They always understaff the store. Ever seen the 36 registers at the front all open at once? Even half of them? Yeah, me neither. The sell CHEAP low quality merchandise and pretty much drives any place that sells quality stuff out of business.

But hey, at least they pay crap and give you a 10% discount.

mill creek and marysville is pretty far from seattle. sure, 14 and 28 miles isn't too far but when you throw in the worst traffic in the cuntry, it's far.

actually, now that I think of it more, I think there is one in renton? (south of seattle for those not from here)

there are only like two that I've seen around here and they are too far away to bother going to...but after hearing all this stuff about their employees and customers, I might get a buzz on and go over there and see what's going on...
