Planned Parenthood's new condom key chains 'blasphemous'
Thu Jan 12 2006 09:14:10 ET

Planned Parenthood has launched a line of condom key chains -- key chains that offend "just about everyone in the country," claims Jim Sedlak, executive director of American Life League's STOPP International. "Some are even blasphemous."

The condom key chains, featuring 28 different designs, are offered for sale on Planned Parenthood of Connecticut's web site. Each chain has a picture or slogan on a plastic holder containing a latex condom.

"Planned Parenthood offends religious people with its key chain that shows a portion of the famous painting from the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo gave us a beautiful image of Adam stretching out his hand to God, with God's index finger about to touch Adam's index finger," said Sedlak. "In Planned Parenthood's blasphemous version, God is handing Adam a condom.

"Planned Parenthood goes on to offend parents with its key chain that shows a caricature of a loudly crying baby," said Sedlak. "Planned Parenthood's slogan accompanying the caricature states, 'Condoms are cheaper than diapers.'

In addition, Sedlak said Planned Parenthood offends all patriotic Americans with a series of three key chains. "The first is a takeoff of the famous 'Uncle Sam Wants You' poster from World War II * in Planned Parenthood's version Uncle Sam is replaced with a condom saying 'I Want You.' The second is an American flag picture with the stars in the field of blue replaced with the words, 'Wear with Pride.' The third is a picture of the Statue of Liberty holding a condom instead of a torch."

Other condom key chains show just how much sex permeates all Planned Parenthood thinking. There's one that says, "Earth and condoms, we can't live without them."

Uh, where is the Sistine Chapel mentioned in the Bible or where is this painting mentioned in the Bible..........I don't understand how they get "blasphemous" out of this..........they are just using an image of two arms, keeping in mind there are no pictures in the Bible..........

Hence the reason few metalheads ever tried to "read" it.

It's not like there is a picture of some dude giving the statue of David a blowjob here, it's a keychain. Harmless is harmless.

whoooo boy. There better be some lube involved.
Well, I haven't seen the Passion, but from what I've read it appears Jesus is a bottom, not a top.

Contrary to popular belief, god is actually a red sphere, only a few mm in diameter as represented in a miro painting I once saw. Most seem to associate omnipotence with great size and mass but his miniscule presence and the fact that he created great fossils to fool biologists only further points to his badassitude.

Namecheck award goes to Kidwoo for the Miro reference.

you could have earned bonus points by working Kandinsky in as well.
Give me a break.

Kandinsky's gawd is two line segments intersecting at a right angle.

Mondrian beat his ass over it so it's obviously a false idol. Wouldn't be good for much other than checking door frame alignments anyway.

Umm, I don't have kids so I don't have any firsthand experience to work with, but aren't condoms, in all honesty, cheaper than diapers? Someone please help me out here.

condoms are cheaper than diapers but you have to look at the whole picture.
Dinner, a movie, some drinks, condom or two, see sex is way expensive

With kid all you got is diapers, food, shelter, clothes, a carseat, college, so in actaulity, having a kid is way cheaper than using a rubber.

A buck o' pop (pun intended) if you visit the grocery store usually...39 cents at planned parenthood...

There's a reason Jesus invented the Pill/ring/patch.

This thread is a riot.

Yes, you can get free ones right at Planned Parenthood. A major consumer magazine did a test of condoms, though, and found that the Planned Parenthood condoms failed a lot more than the store-bought ones. I was appalled at the numbers. Fortunately, I've never been broke enough to rely on the PP basket-o-rubbers.

i´ve wondered about that before..

there is a lot you are trusting on those 1/100ths of milimeters of rubber...
given how catastrophic a failure can become... i dont see why would anybody pinch pennies there...

Information about PP condoms (I thought it was Consumer Reports, not sure why I doubted myself):
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/health-fitness/health-care/condoms-and-contraception-205/ratings.htm

This article claims the condoms were since redesigned and have received "excellent" ratings:
http://www.thebody.com/kaiser/2005/jan5_05/condom_rating.html?m79o

...but given that the article was published in January 2005 and the Consumer Reports report came out the same month, I don't know how they ended up with enough time to redesign, remanufacture, and resubmit, and retest the condoms .

For the hooker upper, condoms are all right, but for long term relationships, hormonal birth control is pretty much the only way to go...It just feels relatively risky to have some sort of physical barrier between the lovejuice and the lovejuicee instead of a chemical solution. And it is. :o
