Anybody have one of these in the closet, back of the garage, under the porch etc?
Ideally built on say some Dura Ace 7700 hubs or something similar, Hugi, etc. 28*, 32*, no preference.
Also ideally you have these, aren't using them, and are interested in trading for some cool stuff.
Anybody, Bueller, Bueller?

That's funny. This is the second instance of ceramic rims this week.

A friend has a Seven hardtail from the 90's and he is getting a 517 Ceramic.

I'll tell you, I used to have that rim, and I never noticed an improvement but I did see the ceramic rub off by year two.

I used to rock the ceramic MTB rims too, BITD. I liked them, but discs kind of killed that market.
This is partially a reaction to an upcoming move in locations, and partially because it's my white whale.

The ceramics were like $30 more and you got nothing extra except green brake pads.

I am so glad about disc brakes that I am never buying another rim brake bike, including my next road machine.

I still rock the ceramic rims for the MTB. Prefer them over disks, I think there is better modulation. Been stocking up on parts as they are getting tougher to find.

I completely agree - so long as by "modulation" you mean "weak, inconsistent performance, and inability to have even the smallest ding in your rim."

;)

HAHAHA!

I figured out I didn't want rim brakes in Connecticut during one winter.

I crashed several times on an icy day when my rim walls froze, and in general, I couldn't keep up on fireroads partly because I didn't have confidence to let it go because of my brakes.

James,
I'm ordering the parts to build wheels like this tomorrow for a customer.

I just had to sell all of my bikes to pay for a pallet of Edge forks. some kind of early 10v Ultegra would make me very excited.
