I'm working on a project for a client about the subject and wow, some salts are extremely corrosive and still being used.

If you care about your car, I recommend washing it in a car wash that has an under-carriage wash. While I found no info on catastrophic failures, I see that it does reduce the life of a car.

Here in Colorado, they use less corrosive stuff (Mag-Chloride) -with- an anti-corrosive agent, but it's STILL corrosive.

A funny from a blog on the subject:

You think your car and driveway are bad???? How about your lungs?

And I still have to smoke outside….

Got any more info on that? As soon as the everything is dry La's brakes sound like doo-doo.
I'm no expert, but I did stay at a...

From my limited researching, it appears that salt eats through steel and aluminum more so than other materials. I'm gonna guess that most brake pads are some sort of asbestos thingy? So I think the issue is more the drum/rotor being torn up.

Run a finger nail over the rotor and if it's groovy
, you're not groovy. Even if the pads are somehow fine, go get them "turned" ASAP before they're too damaged to be made smooth again.
