Between a rock and a hard place.
Went to see the new WM movie "IMPACT" last night in Santa Clara.

As part of the yearly routine of getting stoked for skiing WM movies are as important to me as a pre-season ski wax.

This years flick is not the best Ive seen, but its pretty damned impressive. A bit too much of the Alaska-heli-55deg stuff for my taste. I'm impressed by it, but I can't identify with it. When it dominates the movie I get bored fast. Some fantastic powder footage from the rockies this year though. Steamboat Champagne!

I havent been to a warren miller film in probably 3-4 years. They just dont appeal to me. TGR, Matchstick, and poorboys have had some amazing films out in the past few years so I generally just stick to those.

Actually, the matchstick stuff is a lot like the parts of the WM flick I didn't like.

I can only watch so much of Nobis and Micha Black skiing the impossible.

These three are interesting though

:stupid:

I'm a big fan of Matchstick's movies. I was very impressed with their new one, called Yearbook.

Mc Conkey: "I was like, 'oh, cat track, HUGE air' got buck a bit sideways and it was like, 'ooh, I'm mcgoverning'."

LOL^^^ funniest thing I've ever heard in a sports movie!
Dude, get your ski movies straight! That McConkey quote first of all goes like this: "Oh cool, I got some nice slough coming down around me, this'll make a sweet shot. Okay, air the cliff, skier's left... HUGE KICKER! I'm McGoverning!"

That quote is also from Focused, not Yearbook. Sheesh. Freakin' n00b. :D

I read it. Awesome! What a life- I want to BE Warren Miller. He even lives in the obscure corner of my home state I aim to live someday!

I wish I had the creativity and the guts to follow in his footsteps (except for the multiple divorces and estranged son).

I haven't been to one of his movies since "fifty". They are showing it in San Luis Obispo in two weeks for $18. I was thinking about trying to make it up there.
