Because it'd be a crapload of work and no-one can be arsed? And it'd fall flat on it's face after a couple of years when people lost interest - remember the British Dirt Riders Association? Whatever happened to that? Precisely.... ;)

Sounds like lots of crashes - peeps must have been really letting it hang for this one!

This season was as good - if not better - than last season. Right down to the wire with even more surprises thru the season. Of course, Peaty finally being crowned was pretty frickin' awesome, too! The best part is that next season looks to be even more wide open with some solid tracks to run on.

Eternal thanks to Freecaster and all the other entities that gave us all the images, video and interviews up front to keep the stoke going - high fives all around!!!

damn, i thought sam was a little dude, jacy's tiny.

Seeing Sam pound the rest of the champagne was great too. I think we'll probably start seeing a bit more of Sam's personality now. He seems to be warming up to the cameras a people a bit more.

I bet theres a hell of a party going on in Schladming right now or at least I hope there is because this was is a historic year.

I just watched the Rachel Atherton interview on freecaster
http://freecaster.tv/mtb/1009487/rachel-atherton-interview-schladming-2009

And was she serious when she said
"I rode the track, and it was rad, I felt so good and I thought 'I am gonna race!' but then I thought 'I can't' because imagine how depressed they'd all be because I haven't raced in a year and I show up and smoke em"
Well she clearly meant it as a joke, but I'm sure all of the girls (rach included) believe it may well have been the case if she had!

Literally not true.
I know you know your stuff when it comes to Specialized tires as you mentioned you were testing the Storm a while back, but I was given that information by a very credible source??
Did I hear/remember it incorrectly as Maxxis might not make the specialized tires but they are produced in the same factory? I'd like to know as I'm almost positive there's some relation there...

I do not know about nowadays, but when I was in the bike industry, specialized tires were NOT made by Maxxis.

Stoked for Hill man, what an awsome season of racing. My freecaster Feed cut out on me half way through.
Awsome result from Rat Boy.

What happened to Gee? I cant wait to see the next Animal episode from that race, id say hes pretty disapointed.

My understanding is that the chief tire guy at Specialized used to design tires for Maxxis. not sure about the same factory bit, but even if that was true they'd still be manufactured to their own individuals specs; happens all the time with frames.

Gee had a fantastic run after his crash. Pretty amazing to get the time he did considering. The pros always amaze me with how quickly they recover from mishaps in their race runs.

I am not aware of Frank Stacy ever working with Maxxis, but anything is possible I guess. He has been specialized's tire consultant for years and has done a little work with kenda MX, but I am not aware of any maxxis ties.

Your definitely right about Frank (i think?), but i've heard from a number of people that Specialized acquired someone from Maxxis (presumably to do something with dh tires?). but it's a rumor in the bike industry so who knows/cares.

I've heard nothing but good things in regards to Specialized's current and forthcoming tires. Hill was testing different treads at Bromont this summer, i'll be interested to see what that leads to.

I think the people at the top level have the ability to forget and move on alot quicker then others.

Fair enough...
As everyone has said, it has been a great season and pretty wicked for Specialized to be thrusted back into the spotlight in DH with the bikes and tires. It has been over 10 years since that big program they had got SO much media attention. This year was a great comeback for the S brand, well played.

One of my heroes (Jeff Stanton) once told me:
"A great rider wins races, but a great mechanic wins championships"
Congrats to Jacy.
Good point here - a great rider wouldn't get too far without his bike being in perfect condition & set up etc. Well done Jacy - you ARE the best !:thumb:
Team managers too - couldn' do it without them. Enjoy the 'off season' guys:)

Coincidentally, so are Maxxis! Really expensive for a $6 slip of rubber huh...

Maxxis are not made by cheng shin.....Maxxis is cheng shin. Maxxis is the house brand name used by cheng shin for their own 'higher end' tires...although the mfg of their bicycle tires (two piece molding) is comparable more to a bottom of the barrel auto tire.

Also I think it's worth remembering that Hill only came 31st at Vallnord - to come back and take the overall despite only scoring 50 points in that run, is pretty damn good in my book!
