there are a lot of threads intermingled all over the place
that could be contained into a 29'' wheeled forum.

PLEASE PLEASE do not name it 29er.

most all are already sick of that designation.

In the not so distant future 29" wheeled bike will be the standard.
Yes, and then a small fringe group of 32" wheeled riders will mock them, proselytize about the superiority of 32s & call 29s kiddy wheels or little girl wheels.

I like 29ers, I'm likely buying one, but I'm not crazy about being associated with the frothers that seem to be the vocal majority of 29" riders.

at least trials riders have some talent and ability.
hehe....

Are 29'ers really for people who don't know how to ride with any finesse or is this just an ugly rumor?

Why can't things just stay the same, like more travel will make you a better rider, or pinch grams and you'll be faster....

because this is a modern world, always improving, making things better from old ideas

a lot of original bicycles had 28'' rims so we are just getting back to our roots with lighter and better wheels!

please ridemonkey, you will not be sorry.

And once this 29" forum gets created, can we get small custom RM smug stickers for the members. I think I'll need one when I buy my 29er. ;)

Why do bikes have to be segmented so much? It even bugs me that people separate SS bikes from others. It used to be so much fun racing regular categories at races on a SS bike. It was so nice racing the 24hr Old Pueblo race this year and seeing people on SS, 29, 29ss, rigid, suspended, fs, and even 'big' bikes and cruisers all raing the same race against each other. Each of them thinking 'they' had the right bike for the course.

29er bikes are only different because of their wheel size. They are still XC (got that forum), SS (got that forum), DH? (yup, we've got a forum for them)

Who cares what size your wheel is. A simple search will bring up every 29er thread ever created. Don't we already have enough ways to be different?

we need our different forums to share ideas that are interest us.
those same ideas might not interest others.

I peronally don't like hucking and am glad to see they have there
own area to talk about what chain rings color to buy.

same with 29'' wheels. we need an area free of bullies! lol
all 29'' wheels will be welcome xc/ss/dh to talk about what we
have in common, how big we are!

the internet will alway be a easy way to chalenge opinions.
we group together to minimize the opinions and maximize
the talk that helps us grow.

I have a few rides in on my new set of Specialized FastTrak 29" tires.

Thoughts: They are somewhat wider than my Nanorapters. They seem to hook up well in just about all conditions on the trail wet/muddy/dry etc. They do get a little slippery on leaf litter though.

I believe they are all sold out now, and I don't know when they will be available again.

Yes - give them a forum, but make it at pinkbike or mtbr (oh wait - there is already one) and maybe N8 will go away. When he was an army of one, he was more quiet.

yes give us a Bigwheel thread, there is a want and a need , there is also a desire for the non 29ers not to read our rants, the same way I avoid freeriders.....

I hate to say it, but the 29er fourm on the MTBR.com site is pretty much the best. Just about all the 29er manufactures are on there as well as a number of knowlegable poster.

The MTBR 29er forum is a haven of intelligent information. An exemplary forum, in my opinion. What's best is that intelligence breeds intelligence, so the forum stays free of stupidity and clutter.

BCD- when is your 29er DH bike going to be done? I'm psyched to see pictures.

There's definitely good stuff there, once you wade through all the zealots to get to it. It's kind of like religion: I don't mind when someone shares their beliefs; it's when they constantly try to force it on me that we have a problem.

Are you doing a total 29er DH build?

It looks like there are some 5.5" travel 29ers ready for release.
