Slacking at work
So today I went to lunch with a coworker and some of his friends who I didn't know. One of the dudes saw the LiveStrong band and was like, cool, you support cancer research? So he was asking me what kind of riding I do and stuff, and he says he doesn't ride bikes but he's a big fan of Lance, read both his books, watched the Tour, etc. Turns out he's a cancer survivor. Pretty cool.

I know what ya mean. It's getting to the point where I'm starting to root for cancer.

I mean, what's next, putting something in a sig about it or typing in large yellow text here?

GOOOOOOO CANCER!

who doesn't support cancer? i mean, one dollar doesn't really do much. I think people just wear them to be like "look at me, I support cancer..."

so you spent one buck? I don't feel like I have to go around telling people that I spend money to help people. it's like patting yourself on your own back. no offense to those that don't wear them for that reason but that is the feeling I got when one of the broads in the office had one. she sucks, so everybody sucks..:D

my other co-worker had cancer. got a testical removed. he said when he got it he went to the docs a few times for some pain and they didn't really do anything. then one day, he has this GIANT thing on his neck, like four inches of bubble. they had to cut him open and scrape out his insides. he had cancer like all over inside him but he somehow lived. nutty.

my other friend had a golf ball sized tumor in her head. they had to cut her skull and then they put her skin back together with like 115 metal staples. they shaved half her head and she looked SOOO punk rock. it was cool.:) she is still alive 8 years later. kick ass!

my hands still smell like gas....:(

SNORE - not the yellow band. The fact that we keep drudging this up. Shouldn't we talk about salons or just bump old threads?

Over 8 million people spent a buck. Do you still think one dollar doesn't do much?

The wear yellow campaign isn't for cancer research either. It's all about helping out those that are dealing with cancer. So, lots of people have the wrong impression. It's still pretty dang cool, but at least understand what you are support.

From LAF.com
Education - The LAF informs cancer patients, health care professionals and the public about the physical, emotional and practical issues that people face in their battle with cancer. We provide the information and resources people need to live strong.

Advocacy - The LAF represents people living with cancer on Capitol Hill. We are increasing awareness, encouraging the government to take action, and addressing the health policy concerns of people battling cancer and their families.

Public Health - The LAF plans, develops and funds programs that provide after-treatment support and services for people living with cancer and their families.

Research - The LAF supports scientific and clinical research that seeks to better understand cancer's physical, emotional and practical effects and the challenge of living with the disease.

The more money the better for cancer research!
Doesnt matter how you get it as long as you get it.
My dad ISN'T a cancer survivor. He was my best friend.
55 Years old and he's Gone Forever.
Anyone that roots for cancer, you need help. :mumble:

Umm...under what you pasted, there's a section entitled RESEARCH. That sounds like RESEARCH to me.

I saw one on the soldier checking ID's at the gate this afternoon...

Strictly against regulation but its for a good cause. As he checked my ID I asked him about it and he said it was for his mom who was a cancer survivor.

I see them all over the place in eastern MA, and to address the question why wear it big deal you spent a buck...the more people that wear them the more exposure they get and people will say to themselves hey I want one...kind of common sense

Yes.........it says research. It does not mean that they are supporting the research of the fight against cancer. From that same sentence " to better understand cancer's physical, emotional and practical effects and the challenge of living with the disease."

I'm not ripping on anyone here, just trying to spread some knowledge. It's all a great cause! My mom died of cancer too, it's too bad she could not have been a cancer survivor.
