Got some good Strava times today on the fun down hill sections. Makes me happy I can get a top 6 on a section which also requires a lot of pedaling and not too far off the World Cup XC pros. Not sure what you guys think of Strava but considering I’m an 51 year old fart it adds to the fun for me when riding the local trails system.
Them of us what might maintain trail networks that we want not to be on any map detest Strava.

I only ride sanctioned trails around Copenhagen as it’s the only way to secure access and not run into people as so many people live here any illegal trails are discovered right away.
Some of our trails are legal but we wish for them not to be publicly mapped because we want reasonable traffic levels.

Others are by landowner "silent agreement" - they won't say yes becauswe of liability concerns, but they choose not to hassle us.

And yeah, there's some against the rules stuff.

Just had to go to the trailhead 1/4 mile away to sell something, visibility is sub-50 yards out there in the fog. I shall avoid outdoors for the rest of the day.
Visibility was bad coming back from the mountains, particularly near El Rancho and the following few miles. Over that drive I experienced hail (Fraser a lot and Empire side of the pass a bit), snow (at pass), and rain (town of WP and then along I-70).

I should have clarified- relative to Laramie. :D
The Snowy Range gets over 240" annually generally and the pass shuts down every winter. Route 80 around Elk Mtn gets hammered with wind and drifts. They had a lapse in judgement when they put that road where they did. Theres talk of moving 80 to follow 30 through the lower lands.

I could see that snow machine as part of the route 80 maintenance to clear drifts.

In the cleavage of the Tetons
I just drove by Elk Mountain Sunday, and the thought struck me that it just might be one of the top three worst locations in the US for weather, either summer or winter (off the actual mountain)
Insane, non stop wind, constant whiteouts, unbearable heat, it’s just awful. If you had to punish someone for real, make them live there without much shelter.

Looks like the worst of it is going to stay east of us... and paste @stoney.
I was still up north, so I just got the email and text stream. School got locked down for almost an hour at release time. Hannah's school moved all the kids to the tornado shelter areas. Tornado watch alarms were going off. Rained hard with some hail, but not bad. It sounds like southeast Aurora get ruined though.
