Did the TNUA. The normal ride leader didn't show, so this other dude took over. He put our asses to work, and it was fun stuff including some steep descents on snowy hills. I felt bad for the roadies (heh, not really). By the end my feet were totally numb from the cold, and they still hurt today :dead: I gotta do something about that before next week.

I had a lousy workout last night. I don't know what the hell my problem was. I have not had a bad workout like that in a while. Hopefully tonight's will be better.

Hey at least you were there working out Babs. You seem to be working out a lot lately - maybe your body was telling you you needed a rest last night?

Me and wumpus and steve did about 8 miles. The trail was mostly perfect. It was cold though. Once we rode, it was really pretty nice. I of course wore f*** me tights and a jacket and some other layers. Quite enjoyable except for leaving a knee warmer on the ground after the ride. Wumpus always bitches that I descend too slowly, which I may, but if'n I ain't wounded from going too fast one time I get to keep riding. Well, I didn't stop at the top of a climb and rode by since I knew where we were. Wumpus raised hell that I was in front and told me to move over when it levelled out. So I moved and we started going down some hills and he got all funky and thought he was going to pass out. He was all nervous, but it turns out he was riding on a flat. It was a little funny. It was a great ride. We ended up with beers and I had the saltiest chicken fried steak in modern history. You couldn't IV salt from the Dead Sea in greater concentrations.

That was actually my first workout in five days, not counting the hockey game. Bad days happen, just like with MTB.

It a little to cold for me. I put those leg tights o n my xmas list, I wonder if I'll get them. Do they work good.
As long as they are some kind of micro fleece -- one layer will cover you into the upper 30's to low 40's. The lycra ones like the shorts are not very warm -- maybe good for the 50's.*

*Those temps are for mountain biking. Add 5 to 10* for road riding.

I think what I asked for was the lycra kind, that are only the legs so you can take them off if you get hot. Hopefully, they'll work for me. Last weekend I road with just shorts, and my legs didn't get too cold, but it wasn't 30 either.

I got out at lunchtime, something between ten and fifteen degrees F, an inch or two of crusty snow.

Rode for maybe an hour and a half. Used the new full face helmet, which kept me toasty. Actually the snow helped with that too, making me work harder.

No other people or tire tracks in the whole ride.

Got a nice ride in today in the backrange in Santa Barbara. Mid 70s, slight breeze, sunny skies, it was nice.
Rode with a buddy who, despite living in SB for 2 years, has never ridden offroad here. For shame.
First shot of the trailhead, and my sweet, 1 day old Soma that I broke in today, next of Little Pine trail, view from the Connector trailhead, last the cold-arse water that was up to our mid-calves at the end. Good way to break in a new set of shoes for sure!
First ride in 3+ months, been a while recovering from 3 broken ribs, and a night in the ER. Still have a dent in my sterum.
Sucked not being able to ride up everything I'm used to riding up, but I'll get back there. And surprisingly, I wasn't too gun-shy on some of the nastier sections...
