¡Hola y buenos días muchachos! Just boarded the germ tube, destination: Colombia for a couple weeks. Starting with a 5-day gravel bike tour in Medellin, then Cartagena for a few days. It’s been a rough hell of a couple months, I’ll fill y’all in later. But for now, hasta la vista bitches.

Well we finally took off 3-1/2 hours late. Definitely not making it to Medellín tonight, but we’re booked on a Houston > Panama City > Medellín flight mañana so that’s good. United is paying for hotel and meals tonight, I’m gonna try and raise some hell (eventually) to get them to reimburse us for a portion of the bike tour since it starts tomorrow. I just pray to @FSM that we get our bikes and luggage in Houston when we land.

That place looks awesome. The Japanese are timber framing masters.

It's giving me the itch to timber frame...something.

A friend of mine tried to build a timber frame house, he is an arborist and had access to well, a lot of timber. Town wouldn't get him a permit unless he had an engineer 'certify' his lumber. Turns out that was going to cost him a solid 5 digits that he didn't have. So warped splintery pine from Lowes is fine to build with but a 10" x 10" piece of oak is not. I think he eventually found a loophole where he could build a barn that could be zoned as a home if it didn't fall over after 20 years. He had to keep a trailer on the property as the official 'residence'.
