NOT a 40D replacement... Looks like Canon is a little antsy that Nikon has a hold on a couple of the middle-power-user tiers, should mean good things for the 40D prices.

i should probably sack up and get the 50D to replace my (sold) 20D instead of holding out forever... but i think i'd rather hold out forever for the mythical perfect FF camera. teh good lawd knows i'm not shooting anything these days.

Looks pretty good, but I agree that it is merely an answer to Nikon's new cameras. I like that they have tried to improve the Live View and the Auto ISO. Those are both features on the 40D that have potential, but had room for improvement.
